I've used tampons since I started my period, also at 11. I don't believe there was ever a hymen to be broken, because I never felt one, not even during sex (obviously, that part was not at 11). I did have a bit of an embarrassing moment on my period, though nothing like yours.

The first time I used a tampon, I obviously had no idea how to do it, and I don't know what the heck happened with the directions, because I distinctly remember reading them. Anyway, I didn't realize that you're supposed to take the plastic applicator out after you put your tampon in and I left it in there... I remember sitting down being distinctly uncomfortable, so I went to the bathroom and took the thing out, only to realize my mistake when it slid out smoothly and the tampon stayed inside.

Silly ways, we learn about things like that.

Ooh! Ow. Those applicators always manage to pinch me when I wear tampons >

A lot of girls fall, hit something, or even just play rough and break their hymen as children. I did--I rolled my ankle and fell down right on the side of my tennis shoe, I remember my bits hurting for the whole day and crying about it that night. I had no idea what I did at the TIME.

I don't have a distinct 'moment' of when mine tore, but as I've done dance and gymnastics since I was 3, I'm pretty sure it got busted during a particularly flexible split. Made things easier when I started my period, I'll say that.

As if just getting my period wasn't embarrassing enough, my stepdad congratulated me XD

Haha.
When I got my first period my mom said we'd go to a restaurant of my choice. So, my parents, my sister and I went to a chinese and my dad said: "I really don't know why we do this."

I first used tampons when I had my second period. I was 13 then, I think. It hurt pretty bad, so I used pads again. Now I think pads are sooo unhygienic and nasty.

I prefer pads because I have a weird shape, I think. Tampons feel very uncomfortable 75% of the time. >< So I just use pads.

"I don't know why we do this" LOL

I have some problems at the end of my period. Tampons hurt then. I should use pads for that days. They#re not that bad at all.

I've had trouble with a certain brand of tampons. I couldn't get them in me, they just turned around and lay crossways in my vag.

I couldn't wear tampons for the first five years since I had started menstruating. Thank god I have an irregular cycle.

This. They hurt me, and I can't stand the feeling of putting them in and pulling them out.

Ugh, I hate that feeling too, although they are damned practical and comfy once they're in there. Still, I do want to switch over to some kind of cup eventually, if I can find them around here. Silicone probably feels much better than cotton balls in one's cooch.

ugh I started my period when I just turned 10 (yay for being the fat kid!) and then I had to start using tampons that summer since I was on a swim team. ugh but I didn't know how they worked so my mom did it for me, how gross is that :(

lol now I like them but I'm always so paranoid that I wear both tampons and a pad at the same time if I get stuck somewhere where I cant change. My flo is pretty heavy the first few days.
