Dec 09, 2010 22:50

I've been having an allergic reaction to GOD KNOWS WHAT for the past three days. I thought it might have been some pomegranate I ate on Tuesday; I haven't had pomegranate in YEARS so I thought I may have developed an allergy to it. The doctor I saw today said if it was the pomegranate, it would have been out of my system already, so the only other ( Read more... )

Yeah looking online, I see that sometimes they happen for no reason. Ugh, stupid sensitive skin. :(

You poor thing! I get hives like that from pesticides in grass, so I don't sit in parks any more :( and, as I found out this summer, I get a reaction to cortisone i.e. it gets so much worse. I feel your pain!

I was so scared that was going to happen. I asked the nurse, "what if I'm allergic to the cortisone?" She didn't seem super concerned, but kept me there for a half an hour after she gave me the shot just to be safe. So far, so good, lol.

Hives suck. :(

They sprayed pesticides at your work while you were there? I'd find out what they used if I was you. And see what the protocols of applying it are. I.E. Is it poisonous to humans? Should the area be cleared of people and for how long? Ask to see the MSDS sheet for further info. Did they give you warning etc?

It would be good for you to know what was used so you can avoid it. Allergic reactions can get worse and cause death. Pesticides can be found on our fruits and vegetables, which could cause some real problems for you.

And depending on where you live, you might be compensated if you missed work or have on going health issues.

Those hives look nasty, I hope you are feeling better soon.

I thought the same thing. They usually do it an night when nobody was there, so that's why I thought it was weird. We have these little fruit flies that came from God knows where, so my boss called them in to take care of it, but I definitely thought it was against OSHA standards to do it during business hours. I haven't been there since it happened, but I'm gonna talk to my boss about it, and if this was just an emergency type thing, to at least make sure they warn me if they need to do it again. I'll prob ask for the company name too so I can call them and ask what they used/what's in it etc. I definitely don't wanna go through this again. :(

Thanks though, they're really slowly going away. They still look sorta angry, but are fading little by little.

Oh man I got an all-over hives reaction like that when I was 6 or 7 from Irish Spring soap. I wanted to die, but my mom slathered my ass in some weird oatmeal bath thing. I shall never forget THE ITCHING

I hope you feel better soon!

just run some warm water and mix in the oatmeal. :) i used to have to take them to calm the itching from psoriasis, and it can be pretty soothing!

It was! Painful and itchy and SO uncomfortable. Just wearing clothes was torture. I started hanging out naked yesterday and it was much nicer. :)
