Nothing like a nice dinner to soothe one's self. It was such a nice day today that I stopped off at my neighborhood butcher on the way home to get something to throw on the grill. Sounds like heaven. I was quite happy to be home again to cook for myself.

Sadly, all of the "old tyme" shops are slowly disappearing. Bakeries, fish markets, delicatessens and even bars are closing up and being replaced by nail salons, bodegas and national chains like Dunkin' Donuts and Subway.

Fortunately, that is not the case here... we have plenty of nail and cell phone places, but there are also a decent number of mom-and-pop butchers, delis, bakeries and restaurants. It's one reason I don't think I could live in most other parts of the country... I'd miss that too much.
