An update, a rant, some unpopular opinions, and some pictures

Aug 16, 2012 17:28

So apparently I never update anymore, nor do I comment on anyone else's posts, and most of the time lately I'm ignoring the Internet altogether (apart from Facebook and email) in favor of reading a book or playing Words With Friends (I am officially addicted). Thus, an update ( Read more... )

working hard for the money, adventures in motherhood, flames on the side of my face, a day in the life, in the family way, the idiot box, and now my heart is full, olivia simone, scattered pictures, let's all go to the movies, sometimes i get my rant on

Dude, I seriously just think she gets cuter! I know - I'm biased.

Oh, man. People have been asking me asinine questions ever since I was visibly pregnant, and it hasn't stopped since. For some reason, having a kid opens the floodgates for all manner of dumbassery. "When are you having another?" is just the latest in a string of personal questions.

Hmmm. Yeah, you definitely have a point about fandom moving into other areas, but I think apart from you and one or two other people, my flist is pretty non-fannish at this point. I definitely see more fannish stuff on my Tumblr dash than on my LJ these days, which is pretty interesting.

I get people asking when will we be trying for a boy. Which I'm gladly rude to prying jerks. Because it does sting when some one says something. We wanted 4 but two bed rest at 15 weeks on with lots of shots, high blood pressure and preterm labor I didn't want to push my luck seeing that we have two healthy wonderful little girls.

Because what? For some reason girls aren't good enough and you MUST have a boy for your family to be complete? I get so annoyed at people who think like that. Or that they need a girl because they only have boys. I just kind of figure you get what you get, and so long as the end result is a healthy baby, that's what matters. I think being rude to people asking personal reproductive questions is the way to go!

Man, I don't know what it is with people asking inappropriate questions! Thankfully, I've never been asked when I'll have kids / why I don't have kids yet (except by my grandpa, but he's 87 and allowed to ask), but I have friends who get those kind of questions a lot. I imagine it must be hard to stay polite... but then, they really don't deserve a polite answer to a question like that ( ... )

I suppose there's some kind of expectation that once you're in a relationship or married that you must want kids. Or that if you have one kid, clearly you must want more. I just don't understand why people think they have any right to know what you're doing with your uterus.

Aw, it's good to know people aren't getting tired of me posting Olivia's picture to Facebook. I mostly do it because I don't live near my family and it makes it easy for them to keep up with her.

I hear you on the fandom burnout. I was there about three years ago, and the only thing I regret about leaving my fandom LJ and fandom altogether is that not many of my friends wanted to make the move over to this journal with me. I guess most of them felt our interaction was fandom-limited, which is kind of sad because I considered a lot of those people really good friends. It's interesting to hear that a lot of people have moved on to Dreamwidth, and I see LOTS of fannish stuff on Tumblr, too. After all those LJers saying they would never leave LJ! I should see if my ( ... )

Thanks! My topic is Mars exploration - for the first part of the thesis, I'm translating part of the press kit for the Mars500 study and for the second part, I'm writing about manned missions to Mars and what challenges and problems they might pose for the crew.

Also, your DW account should still be there. I didn't log in there for the longest time and mine was still active when I finally did. Of course, I then went and deleted it and started another one under a new name... ;)

Oh, awesome! Your thesis sounds super interesting. :D

I'll have to dig up my log in information and see if it still works, then!
