I am beginning to despair of ever making it out of the lease on this condo alive. Our AC died. Now, the only reason I'm not currently camped out at my in-laws' house or a nice, quiet hotel is because we're having a "cold front" down here in south Florida and we technically don't need the air conditioner running. However, it warms up again tomorrow

Sorry you keep having such a rough time with that landlord. Having lived in Florida with a broken a/c in august I feel your pain all too well. On the bright side, at least kids are usually oblivious to adult problems. What a cutie :)

It's pretty tough-going with him, that's for sure. It's like he's reluctant as all shit to fix things, but then once he gets it in his head that he must, he's totally on top of it. We've really had it, though, and won't stay beyond the end of August.

Oh, god. Yeah, if it was August, I'd have been in a hotel Friday night. The damn thing had better be completely fixed tomorrow, as it's warming up again. You know it's not the temperature in FL, but the humidity, and I really, really dislike being sweaty and damp from the humidity.

And thank you! We think she's pretty cute. But then, you have your own gorgeous little ones, so you know how it is. :D

My cousin just got out of her lease for similar issues that just weren't being fixed. Document the shit out of all the times you've called/who you've spoken to, etc. Don't be afraid to be a pain in the ass...we're pretty sure she got out of hers because they just didn't want to deal with her anymore, lol.

I've been keeping pretty good track of what's been going on, as I'm the one who deals with the landlord 98% of the time, but the issue is, we rent from the owner, not a company managing a complex, so I think that makes it a bit harder. He's the only one we can deal with, and I think he's just a fucking cheap asshole who wants to own property and collect rent, but doesn't want to take care of issues that come up. If he continues to be this unreasonable, I'm going to call one of our friends who is an attorney down here and see if she can recommend someone who specializes in this particular kind of thing.

Wow, your landlord sounds like a dick. I agree with the above user to document and totally cya, because that is some serious bullshit right there. It's really too bad it's turning out this way, since it was a big help and seemed like a good deal exactly when you needed one.

On the other hand, your kid is the cutest.

He really is kind of a total asshole. We're trying to be patient, but it's hard when it's issue after issue coming up, and he's so slow to act and such a pain in the ass. Neither of us is interested in staying beyond the terms of the lease at this point.

Well, thankfully we've had highs in the 60s yesterday and today, but the warm weather comes back tomorrow, so they'd better get it fixed right the first time, first thing in the morning!
