Camera Ubiquity++

Today's announcement from Apple that the new iPod Nanos will have cameras in them reminded me of two posts I made a while ago.

First, camera ubiquity as evidence of absence. If Bigfoot, UFOs, or Nessie really existed we ought to see more better photos as more people carry more better cameras. Instead it's just more of the same: fuzzy, ambiguous ( Read more... )

As an aside on such things, the ubiquity of cameras in other devices can also cause some unexpected problems. Employees at my workplace are not allowed to bring personal cellphones to work (as opposed to company-issued phones), primarily because cameras are ubiquitous in them. Developments such as this are likely to lead to the ban being extended to iPods and related devices.
