So there's this thing about how McCain stole his story about a Vietnamese prison guard drawing in the dirt from Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. And it seems that the charge is at least partly if not fully BS. It's not necessary for McCain to have stolen the story from Solzhenitsyn because Solzhenitsyn isn't the person who invented the concept of drawing Read more... )

Totally unrelated, but I'm curious about your thoughts on Emily and the Uncanny Valley. Personally, I think Image Metrics has done an amazing job, and I'd like to know just how much the animated face can vary from the original source's face. But you know more than I do about high-end animation systems, so I'd like to hear your thoughts in a future post.

I think he ripped if off from the Battlestar Galactica Episode I watched last night when the guard asks President Roslin to pray with him while she's imprisoned in Kobol's Last Stand: Part 2.

... I mean seriously, yes, it is a lot of intellectualizing to get from a ham-hand to a ham-fist when being gratuitoulsy anti-intellectual.... but that moves the kvetching forward how???

I hear "parents' basement" much more often, but I imagine the reason "dad's basement" isn't more common is similar to why "momma's boy" is an insult.
