Santa Monkey Cam

I'm in Nagano right now. Last night we stayed at the Jigokudani Onsen, and this morning we visited the Hell Valley Monkey Park. Through some strange coincidence (and without any prior knowledge or coordination) peglegpete happened to be watching the live monkey cam at the same moment and grabbed these two shots:

I experienced both onsen and monkeys in the area around Oita/Beppu when I was on Kyushu in '04. Simply incredible and the most awesome water ever, cannot be duplicated in this country. OMG I would go back for that alone. Glad you are enjoying this.

I can't imagine anything grosser than immersing my body in water that's been polluted by the bodily fluids of hundreds, if not thousands, of creepy monkeys.

At the onsen there are indoor and outdoor pools. The indoor pools are segregated male, female, and "family". There's also an outdoor pool, but we were told "if you use the outdoor pool you will need to bathe again or you will smell like monkeys". (The monkeys don't have access to the indoor pools.)
