Summer Blend Gas

Last fall as we approached the 2006 midterm election gas prices dropped 17% - from $3.15 on August 1 to $2.67 on September 22. 42% of Americans thought that this was a Republican-orchestrated price fixing conspiracy. I mean, if you blame it on the "gay marriage only Types" - then you can hammer those Evil Radical Left Wing Tree Hugger Eco Terrorists in the White House for not being as Patriotically Corrector Than Thou sort of thing....

Which would still be a Republican Gas Conspiracy, but not a "evil liberal" one...

The refinery business has complex logistics, and CA having its own kind of gas does not help. Also, compared to the rest of thuh awl biznizz there's little return on building new refineries. So, yes, gas goes up in the summer and drops in the winter. This is not new.

You guys are getting screwed out there. I'm paying $2.659/gal. for premium (I like my car, but it's high maintenance and accepts only the best) here in the DC metro area, and that's only because I don't feel like driving ten minutes down VA 28 to Manassas to save $0.20/gal.

the blend may be cheaper, but demand is also higher in the "summer driving season". plus the refinement/delivery capacity is very close to maximum so small shifts in supply and demand can mean big swings in price.
