President's Address to the Nation

Sep 12, 2006 01:00

George Bush rehashed a variety of statements in tonight's 9/11 address. There's a lot more to criticize about this administration but I'll stick only to its strengths: the points that Bush brought up tonight:

On September the 11th, we resolved that we would go on the offense against our enemies, and we would not distinguish between the terrorists ( Read more... )

I am 1000% in agreement, yes. The guys in the US Army, especially the ones I know here, are good guys.

I'm just not really sure what these good guys' mission is, who they ought to be supporting, what they have to accomplish, and how they're going to accomplish it. The longer that they provide simplistic non-answers like "steadfast" and "stay the course" the more I think the commander in chief, vice president, and secretary of defense doesn't know either.

Which Tony Snow tried to excuse by saying it was instead, "not a partisan speech".

Thanks for another well-planned, well-researched, and well-argued rebuttal, tongodeon. I do believe I'll be linking quite a few friends to it.

I just finished reading the introduction to Sidney Blumenthal's new book via Salon. In it, he lays out the various failures of the administration, the reasons for the ultra-partisan politics, and sums up with some interesting conclusions. If time permits, I may cut and paste the article with links to google searches based on some of the points he's making. I've got to get cracking on PhD apps first, though.

Dude, you are the winningest. Keep posting this stuff, it's great, and it's backed up with pesky facts, which makes it actually useful.
