Iraq in a Nutshell

Jun 02, 2006 14:36

A friend is debating one of the increasingly-rare Iraq War proponents in a mailing list that I don't read. They're still arguing about whether the result of the Iraq invasion has been positive or negative. Three years ago I heard a lot of people saying "time will tell" or "history will be the judge" about any number of factors including WMDs, ( Read more... )

But we have always been at war with Iran. drieuxster June 2 2006, 21:49:43 UTC

Forgive me if I re-iterate the obvious here, but, well, we have always been at war with Iran, which is why all of this whining about Iraq is merely more of the same old defeatists failed pre-911 liberal mindset that just does not understand how Great our Great Leader Really IS!!!

So why not help your friend get past the folly of whining about ThatIraqiThingiePooh, and up and on the big bus to take on the glorious Total Victory of Defeating the Mad Iranian Flying Saucer Cow Disease before it becomes the hot topic replacing Bird Flu and last weeks "which white girl is missing now" news reports.

not really... it's a part of the overall problem.

I still do not understand why any Patriotic American would even think that we are @War with Iraq.

I mean we all got to see the wonderful Photo's of the Iranian Nuclear Plants before the Marines crossed the border into Iraq to restore the wetlands - so why was anyone thinking that we were going to be At War with Iraq???

I mean where are these folk's sense of patriotism

As usual, your rational insight is like a clear path through a swamp made of bullshit and opinion. May I spread it on my livejournal?

Go right ahead. I'm trying to save myself time by creating a cut-and-paste response rather than having to retype variants on that paragraph every time I read the bullshit and opinion you mention. If other people would like to cut and paste the same statements or link to the same sources (or this page) they're welcome to do so.

You talk like one who doesn't understand that everything is in God's hands and that as long was we obey His will we will remain the Chosen people.

Occasionally you see the argument made:

1) Invading Iraq pretty much ruined it, spoiling the country for most of its inhabitants, making nearly everything worse than it was before with little prospect of future improvement. (This is because of all the things you cited in your post.)

2) Ruining Iraq was a good idea. This is because it destabilizes a powerful oil country, destabilizes the entire Middle East, frightens nearby states, and demonstrates American military might. (America sells a lot of military hardware; every decade or so America hosts a massive "air show" resulting in the deaths of arbitrary tens of thousands of people. The most recent of these happened to be over Iraq ( ... )
