SHARING TIME:
So, Glee. I started out being a Finn/Quinn shipper (and I still like them) which lead to thinking maybe Puck/Rachel wouldn't be so bad to go along with them and then fell in love with them and now it's pretty much all I want in the world. So! Links! Spoilers in several of these links!

OMG I AM SO GONE ON THEM IT IS RIDICULOUS. I WANT ENDLESS AMOUNTS OF FIC FOR THEM. I DID NOT THINK I WOULD NEED MUCH GLEE FIC AND YET NOW I CANNOT HAVE ENOUGH. NOT EVER.

That is EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. I started idly shipping them and, oh, fic was kinda cool, I could do this pairing for awhile. And then it HAPPENED AND I AM FOREVER IN LOVE WITH THEM OMG.

I love it because you can actually do stuff with them! You can write fun and snappy or you can write sweet and gentle or you can write angsty and depressing or you can write epic future fic for them! I was having this conversation last night and I'm pretty sure Puck/Rachel is pretty much one of those bickering shoujo manga OTPs and NO ONE WILL CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE.

Oh, bless you. I haven't had the courage to dip my toe into Glee fic, but the Puck/Rachel situation had me in such a tizzy. Your recs are always so solid!

I was so sure there were only going to be, like, three Puck/Rachel shippers in existence, so that you like them fills me full of UTTER DELIGHT OMG. I know I'm the sort to get easily excited and all, but I am ridiculously excited about them, they are exactly what I needed to really dive into this fandom full-force.

Quinn is not my favorite singer (she's too nasally and breathy for me) but the songs that have been about her (Keep Holding On and You Keep Me Hanging On) have been my favorites just for their sheer emotional charge. And I am more than delighted to shove as many Puck/Rachel recs down through throat as I can. *beams*

I have also been on a massive Gleefic reading rampage these past few days, and wooo for link overlap! Waging wars to shake to poet really was appealing in the way it shows how harsh actual teen cattiness and conversations can be and Sin tetas no hay paraiso was simply fantastic. I had no idea I would fall for Rachel/Puck so damn hard. I'm sorry, Finn! XDD

Have you read Cinnamon Hearts and Slushies yet? It is kind of cutesy in parts, and one of these sentence-fics, but I was quite charmed by it last night. And I just finished In a giddy whirl by waldorph after I had just plowed through her STrek fic and it was just as good. Ahhh Glee! And to think I was despairing of finding good fic for it :Db

I've been pretty into Glee the last few weeks or so, it's kind of hard (for someone like me) not to over-analyze the show, but I wasn't really quite there with the fandom. I just wanted to watch the show and then continue on my merry way. But Puck/Rachel was interesting. I liked it in fic. And then it HAPPENED and oh shit I think I'm actually in the fandom now.

It's totally not helping that there's some really good fic to go with it. I haven't read much for other pairings so I don't know about the state of fandom there, but this corner is kind of turning out to be really awesome. And thank you for the links to those two fics, it got me off my ass to read In a giddy whirl tonight and MY HEART IT IS SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW. And thanks for the heads up on Cinnamon Hearts and Slushies, I was on the fence about that one because I'm not big on one-sentence fics 99% of the time, but if you're giving it a rec, I'll give it a shot.

END WORD VOMIT ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS SHOW, THESE CHARACTERS, AND THIS FANDOM NOW.

Yeah, I get what you mean. I spent a lot of time just squeeing with friends and never really venturing into fandom besides to look at some picspams and ep reactions, and I admit that I wasn't so hot about the idea of trawling through ffnet and etc for fics-- but thankfully lots of writers I already know from other fandoms are joining the Glee bandwagon OR have done all the legwork already and assembled rec lists XD

I also haven't been reading much of the other characters, and I guess part of it is that people are waiting for potentially more backstory? I've read spoilers about the next ep that does reveal some unexpected info on one of the Glee kids, so maybe people are trying to avoid getting Jossed? I keep forgetting that this show has just started and that there are still so many eps to go, ahh!

That was definitely the problem for me, too. I wasn't opposed to the idea of fandom, but the idea of wading into the masses of it just seemed like far too much effort, especially when I didn't really have anything I was particularly craving. None of the big pairings were my thing... until Puck/Rachel and then, suddenly, fandom and I exploded at the same time. Clearly it was meant to be!

And I would love to see more on characters like Artie and Tina and Mercedes and Santana and Mike and all of them, but I can see why they're not getting much yet. You'd have to make up personalities for them wholecloth and then you'd totally get Jossed, yeah. I mean, look how much fandom ran with Puck and Rachel both being Jewish after this episode, once we finally got something to work with. I'm hoping it'll be similar for the rest of the characters. (HIATUS IS SO HARD TO DEAL WITH AHHH.)

I want to like Puck/Rachel - and Puck, in general - but I'm in a desperate, desperate need for the show to have a flashback of sorts that basically spells - if with more tact than this - 'Puck didn't get Quinn drunk as much as they BOTH got drunk and were stupid together'.

Sob.

I had that EXACT problem pretty much since the scene where we found out Puck was actually the father and ranted about it for weeks, that it kind of really sounded like Puck took advantage of her ( ... )

YEAH. I'm sort of getting that vibe, I mean, if he had only wanted to have sex with Quinn he wouldn't look sad about the baby right? And he is showing development and chances of growing up and all.

AND YET. IT'S STILL THERE. A big huge blinking sign that I'm praying that it's a scared teenager wanting to blame the whole world about her situation, but until it's not actually addressed, my feelings for Puck in general are difficult and making me squirm in uncomfortable ways.

I'm hoping we'll find out properly this week.

I think, for me, it was also reaching a saturation point with my frustration/anger with the show that made me step back and go, "Hey. It's a satire! Maybe you shouldn't take it so seriously and instead just have a little fun with it."

Well, that and I'm far crankier with Will (and a little bit Finn) who make just as many terrible actions, but never seem to get called on it the way Puck (at least partially) does.

But, no matter how much I do or don't forgive Puck, I do still think the show has a tendency to let its male characters off the hook (or justify their actions) in a way they don't with the female characters and I am getting a little tired of that. I'm hoping that's more deliberate satire, though, because it would be a pretty sharp commentary on TV these days, if that's what they were doing. *crosses fingers*
