Sometimes, it really pays to keep the camera in the car. Is there a chance that the car will get broken into and the camera stolen? Maybe. But would I miss things like this if I didn't carry it? Definitely

Oh yeah! Very nice -- and by ALL means, work with reflections. That's one of my favorite things to do with a camera. One of the shots I took in Japan was actually just the reflection of the sky-scrapers in the pond in the park I was in -- I got other pictures of the buildings later.
Normally, I'm conscious of things like that. The funny thing about this one was that I was so busy driving the car and watching the balloons that when my subconscious said "Yo, stupid, this would be a good place to park." my brain parsed that as "no pesky houses in the immediate foreground" and it took the balloon getting closer to the ground before I broadened my actual field of view to notice the existence of the retention pond. :-)
this reminds me of a ballon ride i had , or was i just the crew. we were up flying on a clear day, and suddenly there was lightening!! we landed the shhoe balloon between houses. surprised a number of people in the fra west suburbers of chicago. the sheo balloon is much larger than other balloons and wh had it packed up in 15 mins, our piolate was impressed.
your pictures are truly magnificant.
if i misspelled anything its becaued the type size is maybe 1.
Thanks! :-) I was very happy with how they turned out. It's hard to take _bad_ pictures of balloons, 'cause they're so inherently photogenic, but it was nice that they came down low to humor me.
Weird about the type size... I'm not sure why it would have been so small!
The third one was my favorite too. I've got a few more as the balloon continued to settle behind the house, but that was the one that just seemed to have the perfect amount of balloon and interesting ripples in the pond.
My camera is a Nikon D70, so it's occasionally in my laptop backpack, but never in my seldom-carried purse. For random point-and-shooting, my cell has a decent 2 megapixel camera, but I really miss the extra pixels when I use it. My friend Steve just got a new Fuji that's a nice combination of small form factor, shaped reasonably like a "real" camera, and a good (10 or 12x) optical zoom. It's tempting to have something like that that could live in purse or glove box, but mostly I get by with leaving the Nikon stashed in the car.
My camera is a Kodak Easy-share CX7330. I think it's got like 2 MP resolution; adequate for sophisicated snapshots, and I *can* set it to "best" quality when I come across something I expect to want to enlarge.
