I felt bad for her, being stuck with males!

Well, there really aren't that many dwarf-women, of course. And I wanted to turn on its head the Alan Bennett quote from The History Boys which inspired the series: "History is women following behind with the bucket"...

Oh, of course! I totally missed that reference, and I know it was mentioned earlier in the series ... :(

Oh, I can just picture Fris ordering her team around! A great glimpse of life under the Lonely Mountain :>)

(But that wasn't the last prompt - there is another this week ...) OK, just ignore me ...

Given that I'd had mortal women of the Rohirrim, Gondor and the Dunedain, a Hobbit-lass, and ellyth of Rivendell and Mirkwood, I thought the Dwarves ought to get a look in...

(And yes, I unhelpfully put my prompts out of order. One of the advantages of getting behind!)

Good lass! I can imagine that the place would need a good spring-clean.

Dwarves are very fastidious and organised by nature, I think, but without access to the outside world at all, (and all the mortal Men cooped up in the Mountain with them) things might have got a bit difficult after a few weeks.

The parts of the story nobody ever thinks about, the cleaning-up afterwards... but one of the most important jobs to do, after all. I like how Frís strokes her beard, I just can picture her so well.

Just imagine if you had to clean up Isengard! I was very grateful that Dwarf-women also have beards - it did help to picture her in just a few words...

I'd rather not. In fact, I came upon some fanfic some time ago where the consequences of the flooding for everything downstream was described rather vividly - ugh.
Do you happen to have seen the images in that Weta book about The Hobbit? They created such awesome female dwarves there, with very sophisticated beard hairdos (or however that is called in English).
