Very effective response to the prompt, a nice turnaround from 'floods of tears', to have everything seem arid to Denethor. And a very poignant proof that he did love both his sons... even if he forgot that later.

Thank you. She came from the sea, after all; I thought it felt right he would see a desert without her. Poor Denethor. :( At that point, I don't think there was anything in the world he loved and needed more than his two little boys.

Thank you! I am very glad to hear you think so; I was rather startled with myself when I had Denethor so close to tears... The poor little ones were easy, but he worried me.
