I could easily see this as companion to the other and I was glad of the link to the first story so I could read them side by side. Breathtaking work and this, and the other, go together very well!

This one could stand on its own, perhaps, but I think it gains a lot of its force from playing off its predecessor - and that was several challenges ago so I felt I ought to link. I'm delighted that it took your breath away, as the mere thought of that moment on the Morannon tends to have that effect on me - thank you for the feedback!

I can well imagine Legolas would have felt the fateful pull of the past at that moment, giving him ample reason to assume he wouldn't survive. Luckily, both he and Gimli lived to compare counts, yet again. Thanks for sharing :)

I thought I could get away with the apparently bleak ending, because happily we all know it turned out better than it must have looked just then. And yes, I think the approach to Mordor and the stand before the Black Gate must have weighed on Legolas, for all his light heart, very heavily indeed...

What a perfect companion piece - each an excellent drabble but the two together stronger than the sum of the parts - well done!

When the idea for the moment came to me I suddenly realised I should pair it with the "FlashForward" one - I'm glad you feel they complement.
