Nice! A very gaffer-ish consideration on how the faraway events of the War of the Ring would have affected (or not) the folk of the Shire, while touching on the aftermath of the Quest in Frodo's life.

That is how the Gaffer would feel about it, wouldn't he? Very Shire-ish.
But in the last line, you can quite feel his concern for Frodo coming through, despite his lack of interest in the honour shown to Frodo and Sam in Gondor.
