I'm the same way with horror movies! I WANT to be scared! Half the time I'm not. A surprised jump isn't the same for me as being actually scared. And there's not been that many movies that have actually left me with chills! Especially when half the time I can anticipate the scares!
I didn't really like The House on Haunted Hill... And the Hills have Eyes I couldn't get into! (I'm rather fussy) As odd as it may sound, I've found the scary movies that have had a lasting effect on me have been japanese scary movies. Those guys do horror movies almost perfectly! Very creepy...
oh yeah, if i want to get really truly scared, i'd go for an asian horror movie. those fears stab you way more internally than what i usually get from western movies. like, i couldn't imagine freddy kreuger at the end of my bed but there were definitely times i was even afraid to blink after watching an asian horror movie haha
that said, i actually enjoyed those movies not really because of the scares. At the time they came out, they had non-clichéd plot points and action that i quite appreciated :)
