Um. I'm sorry, but after 2 billion years, absolutely any coffee machine would have been ground to dust. No matter how well Jack took care of it -- seriously, the metal would have gradually dissolved. I mean, I can see him keeping it for ten thousand years, maybe even 50,000 or so, but much more time after that and it's just doomed. Clothing is even worse about this -- it's edible and easily worn, ripped, stained or otherwise damaged.

Very interesting fic so far, though.

Awww, poor Boe, missing Ianto and good coffee! I imagine he kept the suits and the coffee machine in some sort of stasis field most of the time to preserve them, only getting them out occasionally. They'd be too precious to risk them being damaged by the passage of time.

Ianto's taking it all very well, I always thought he was very hard to throw off-balance. The cannibals managed, but most other things just earned a raised eyebrow or a roll of the eyes. He understands Boe's plight and feels such empathy for him.
