Last night I created a lit circle revolving around revolutionaries/leaders who've changed society (for my student teacher--a long story). What I already know will happen will break my heart: the kids will not know who the women on the list were and will rank what they have to say below the others

I'm sure these are either obvious or unworkable, but let me propose:

*Valerie Solanas - still a fascinating extreme

*Susan Faludi - Backlash not only changed feminism, but helped the analysis of media narratives move from the university to the mainstream. One might even say things like The Daily Show and the general fascination with meta go back in part to books like Backlash. The fake-scientific trend pieces is still relevant today.
