Is it a beatles documentary or a collection of some of their perfomances? I never seen it but I'm a big Beatles fan myself, really loved their hilarious 'Help!' movie. I can perfectly understand feeling touched by some of their music, for some reason 'Blackbird' always gets at me too, especially when i listen to it late at night wen i'm all by myself. Simple yet so complex: that was the real genius of the Beatles imo.
Across the Universe is a movie, a love story set in the 60's. All the characters are names mentioned in Beatles' music, Jude, Prudence, JoJo, Maxwell, Sadie, and of course, Lucy (in the Sky with Diamonds). The music, the Beatles songs sung by the characters in new arrangements drives the plot, which is simple and light, touching on 60's issues such as free love, the draft and the war in Vietnam, etc. It is beautifully filmed and performed. Robbie and I both love it! It is available on DVD and elsewhere, I am sure! As I say, do yourself a favour and watch it. Share it with your friends! Hugs! --Mike
When we saw it in a theater with exactly 2 other people in the whole place; I think I cried 4 times. The one that really broke me down was the "Let it Be" scene. Wonderful movie! I think the recruiting office scene is brilliant. We bought the Blu-Ray as soon as it was released and have spread the word to others whenever possible.
