It is perhaps only fitting that Illyana speaks first ( ... )

There's no flash, no show. Just Mike, for a moment, at the back of the room, in glasses and gloves and shoes, black-clad in the shadows. He makes no speech, just slides through the crowds, pulling out happy memories for people to see, to hold to. He listens for a while, and then he's gone, as smoothly as he arrived.

(He leaves behind two small golden handbells, each with cards, one for Sally and one for Jean-Paul reading "Ring in case of drama. One use only.")

Sally didn't know Peter particularly well. He'd been at the mansion when she was in the Brotherhood and she rarely had ever interacted with him. But she knows the two people who loved him probably the most in the world and she wouldn't miss this for anything. Not even an Apocalypse, which thankfully seems to have been stopped before it even started this time.

She sits in one of the chairs and listens to the speeches and waits to lend a hand any way that she can. For now, she'll admire the photo of the young man they lost and keep a watchful eye on her friends.

After the talking is done, Illyana goes to Sally first.

"Thank you for coming," she says simply. "Piotr would be proud that I have such good friends."

Sally gives a small smile and hugs her friend.

"I'll be right here in this chair until the service is over so you need anything just say so." She glances at the refreshment table and adds, "I may get up to get food but I'm here."

Illyana grins. "I made most of that myself," she says proudly. "Our mother taught ume to cook, from when I was small. Piotr's favourites are all there."

Her face grows more solemn. "Do you ever put out food for the dead, Sally?"

Pepper worried she'd be late, but as usual, has completely forgotten about time differences and therefore is actually on time. If that even makes sense.

She hasn't been to Xavier's in ages, and if it wasn't for JP, she wouldn't be here at all. She never met Piotr, but she's heard plenty about him. She's there for support, to show JP that he isn't alone.

When the service is finished, she'll more than likely leave after giving him a hug, a kiss on the cheek, and a promise to get together when she has time. As it stands, she has to fly back to London if she wants to finish everything in order to be back in time for JM's service.

But she wouldn't have missed this for the world -- or millions, for that matter. A business deal can be worked on at any time, friendship can't.

Bea made her way over to him from just a few seats down, kneeling on the floor, almost curled up at his feet. She reached for his hand and watched the next person come up, but she never said a word to him. She wanted him to know she was right there, not to gawk at him while he was very obviously in pain, but just... to be there.
