At a traditional wake, the event occurs in the house of the deceased with the body present.
Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin left no body. It is entirely possible he's not even dead, but after a year of waiting and searching... the odds don't look good. Besides which, wakes and funerals have never been for the dead, not really - they are for the living.
One of the larger rooms at Xavier's has been booked for this evening. There are chairs and tables, and a small space at the head of the room with a microphone set up. There's a single photograph of Piotr on the wall behind the mic. He's smiling in the photo - he always smiled easily - and he looks young and handsome and happy.
The notice tacked to the door leading to the room reads:
WAKE
In honour of Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin
If you knew him at all, please come and share a few words.
(refreshments provided)
Illyana insisted there be food.
"That is how it is done," she'd told Jean-Paul when he asked why anyone would want to eat at a memorial service. "You mourn, yes, but you celebrate his life, too. There is always food at parties."
Come celebrate.
[OOC: Yes, it really is a wake for
tm_colossus. If your pup knew him, maybe saw him in the halls at Xavier's, or interacts with Illyana or
tm_northstar then you've been invited to say a few words or to just stuff your face with Russian snacks. Everybody's welcome. Feel free to post a few words about the deceased, or not. S'all good!]
