Although I don't have the expertise to help you with your project, I wanted you to know that I think that is a beautiful way to commemorate your brother's plans.
One thing I might consider, is whether there is a way to make a more permanent, physical copy of everything that is shown, said, posted, and mapped.
Peace to you.

I would love to make a physical copy of it as well, and will probably look into that when the last of his ashes are scattered. I've heard of websites that take online content and create books.

How are you?

I'm doing well. Our baby is about 24 weeks old and it's 107 degrees outside right now. I love feeling him grow and dance/swim/shuffle around in my belly, and I wish it were cooler so we could go outside more. Other than the physical heat I am happy and healthy.

We came up with a name, but I'm not clear if we're sharing it yet. Either way, it's fun to call our baby by name and not think of him as 'the baby'. He's starting to feel like a real person and I love communing with him.

I don't know much from the design side of things, but googlepages are free and have a very decent amount of storage, etc. also for free. You just set up a gmail account and it has the same. I made my teaching website in a couple of hours on there.

You'd have to get someone better than me to help with the map advice though -- I think it's a great idea!

I'll look into googlepages. Do you need much web experience to use it? I confess that I'm a total idiot when it comes to web design.

No experience necessary -- it walks you through it and nothing "shows" on the web until you click "PUBLISH" -- and there is always a link at the bottom that says "UNPUBLISH" -- pretty error-proof. :)

I don't, but wanderinggrrl does- she does website design for a living. I'll pass this info on to her. Also, check out her saved pictures- you will love her kittens.

Any help is appreciated. I don't know the first thing about web design. What is the name of the hosting company?

I'd like a graphical world map (probably flash-based) where I can highlight countries and US states and put a little blurb about the different locations as people distribute the ashes. Something like this, perhaps, although I'd like to find something cheap or free.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I have no idea what the regulations are taking ashes internationally, and have no help to offer for a website, but once it's up I'll claim some to take to India if you want.
