Quickie vacation
Just arrived at Miami international airport. Meeting C here... he's been here all week for work and we're heading to Aruba together for some R&R. My timeshare for this year was about to expire so I exchanged it for something in the Caribbean. Trip Highlights
Venice
- St. Mark's Square: Didn't care for it during the day. Way too crowded with tourists, vendors, and aggressive pigeons, but fell in love with it at night when darkness fell, stars came out, and the orchestras played. en route home
We're currently in Munich waiting for a the connecting flight back to the U.S. Hanging out in the Lufthansa lounge taking advantage of the internet stations here. Taking me some time to get used to the different keyboard layout, especially having the "y" and "z" switched around. C and I have been wandering around Venice for the past couple days. After a particularly grueling month of work, this vacation is even sweeter. We've been trying to make it to Italy for years now, and finally did it for our anniversary. Venice has been absolutely magical. At 7 AM, I went to the polls (at a church oddly enough) and voted after waiting in line for an hour. Good thing I didn't bother getting up earlier since the volunteers said the line was longer at 6 AM when they opened. They used scantron forms that we had to fill out using black markers....nice and hi-tech.... -

food troubles
I just launched oatmeal at myself. I accidentally flicked a spoonful of it out of the cup and onto my lap...and i'm wearing light colored pants.
Last week I threw green tea at myself. I was doing work and absentmindedly grabbed my cup to drink some but brought it too quickly to my face and the tea flew out and smacked me in the chest.

vacation withdrawal
I didn't realize how much I needed something like the Maine getaway until I was there. Despite the hanging out with family, pigging out on endless amounts of lobster and homemade tripleberry pies, kayaking, and fishing, the best part of it was just those simple hours I was able to sit by myself outside watching the sun come up and bounce rays off ( Read more... )
