Summary: Prompt fic for hezikiah's birthday. The Eighth Doctor investigates an alien disturbance on Earth and runs into a rather determined birthday girl. Nothing in his training prepared him for this. And his later self is unprepared to deal with a shocking reminder.

So much to comment on here

As much fun as the plot bunny was, it was a bit of a struggle to get all the details in. I feel like I missed out on things I could've done. So... it's possible there'll be a short follow-up rather than a rewrite.

I think the fact that the woman's body triggered such notice from him surprised him. And... yeah.

I think we use so many scented products that we're making our own sense of smell weaker. A little time with the Doctor might change that.

Argh! He was supposed to play some music for her before they parted! Well, assume he did and got it back.

The second part will explain a bit more. In fact, I may pull it up and make a last-minute addition to correct for some missing elements.

Will post later tonight! Then I can answer the questions I can't just yet. ;)

Agreed about the scented products! I use a minimum (certainly never perfume) because, frankly, I can taste the stink of perfumes, and it's awful! I hate it when people overindulge...

I figured that sometime during their drinking, he might have played a little for her, and yes, I could imagine that his reaction upon first seeing her, with her hair lit by the sunlight, might have surprised him. I wonder if Ten will bring out the ukulele, too, in addition to returning her property. She might get a shock over this, as he did over realizing it was her.

Oh, and speaking of Eight's reaction to her, he also reacted to her dancing and mentioned that it seems that she was familiar with belly dancing. That takes incredible control, and I always imagined Donna would also be into yoga to keep herself limber. Yoga also takes control to do it right... especially the core muscles in the abdomen.

Alas, then, my response to your next chapter will have to wait until tomorrow night. I still can't wait; it's bound to be... interesting!

I now use only shampoos and such that only smell like... well, such. But I make sure I can stand what scent they do have. I've been to allergists who have to put up signs to instruct patients to avoid using heavily scented items.

Might get a shock? No mights about it! ;)

It does. Which reminds me that I need to get back into it.

Well, the birthday girl did respond. So... maybe it'll be up much sooner. ;D

Yay birthday fic! I loved it. Graske! Ew! The thought of Eight AND Ten playing the ukulele just sends me into giggles. I love that Ten is jealous of his Eighth self. I can't wait to read Chapter 2!

Okay, until we learn exactly how the Doctor (likely) got Donna pregnant with Jenny in your The Noble Girl series I’m going to assume that this first chapter ended up with Eight and Donna in a hotel room before Donna ran away because of her intense feelings for Eight…plus with his lingering post regeneration amnesia and the war it’d explain why he didn’t track Donna down (yet)…

I love this story on its own of course but I love using it as the prequel of your other series.

was it dancing or “dancing” that tore holes in his jacket? I’m wondering if they actually did go further than he thinks/remembers…he might have received some claw marks and she might have received a Jenny in the oven…
