She was gone. Daniel Jackson’s normally brilliant blue eyes were now rimmed with red as he mourned the loss of his wife. She had taught him more than any book could ever teach a man. She had shown him passion he thought he would never know. He’d never given up hope that he would find her and somehow save her from the demon that had possessed her and that had been the only thing that had kept him going. Now, what did he have left? What reason did he have to wake up every morning and face the day?
He closed his eyes again as the world seemed to close around him with yet another crushing wave of despair. His throat burned as he tried to hold back the tears. He buried his head and kept his eyes squeezed shut and just when he thought he’d won the battle, he let air fill his lungs for a deep cleansing breath and expelled a sound of pure agony. His resolve was once again lost and his body wracked with sobs as visions of her beautiful face and the sound of her sweet voice danced across his mind.
His Sha’re was gone.
