The attack started on Pershore Road near Cotteridge and continued onto Linden Road in Bournville. I suspect it was a mixture of all those things. He didn't get jumped, it was a nutter in a car following him shouting abuse. The guy got out and headbutted him a couple of times, then drove after him a bit more before whacking him over the head with a bottle. He lost his phone (which was worth very little), the guy wanted his bike jacket (which had all his stuff in) but didn't get it. The police are viewing it as assault and theft.
Sorry to hear about Dave's grandmother - I'm sure she's in a beautiful place now. Having his brother beaten up might even be worse, because it seems so random. I hope he'll be fine soon, though.
Thank you. It was very random, the police were rather shocked by it too. He's not had a good time of it over the last few months. Work and health problems and generally not being happy in his current place. Hopefully moving to a new city with new prospects will help with most of that.
I was going to mention some of this on MA, but my head's been a bit full of late and I just didn't get to it. Possibly I'll do roundup of it all, now the stressful bits seem to be over.
We are planning for the rest of the year to be better.
