Shadow of Love
Everything was different now. This summer had changed them both and they weren’t the same people they were before.
Gone was the awkward shyness of the first season together. With the fleeting touches and scarlet blushes - from Fernando of course because Steven Gerrard did not blush - new love was no longer new. It wasn’t even

This is lovely. The topic is angsty, and a little sobering, but you still managed to keep it hopeful.
from Fernando of course because Steven Gerrard did not blush...
So very true. I love this line. It shows differences in personality and grabs your attention. Short and simple and effective.
Fernando was now a husband and a father, everything Steven had already been
This is the same as above. It grabs you, makes you pay attention, makes you think. Everyone knows Fernando's married and is a Daddy but this makes you think 'what about Stevie?'
I like how you kept it ambiguous when it comes to Stevie's exact reaction. It makes the reader use their imagination and leaves them wanting more.
A goal no longer attracted them to each other like highly polarized magnets
I lolled a little. Highly polarised magnets indeed! They have settled down a bit, there's maturity in their relationship now, familiarity that I think makes them all the stronger.
The honeymoon was over, now came the real work. ( ... )

I was re-watching Fernando's goal and I noticed how Stevie was not right there even though it came off a pass from him and it made me think and then I was thinking there are all these stories with Fernando and Sergio becasue of him being married and having Nora and I was just like. Wait. This has been Stevie's life all along.
They really were highly polarized magnets though haha my favourite was when neither of them had anything to do with the goal and they jump each other haha They have settled down, a bit less showy a bit more comfort.
I mean by all means fall into bed together becasue yum but that's no longeran acceptable solution with maturity and developped relationships

I haven't really written anything about Roger getting marrreid and having twins either. I'll probably be in the mood to tackle them at some point though..
Yeah, I really think Stevie and Fernando have cooled down and matured a lot. This is good I think, a new dimension to their reltaionship for us fangirls!

I'll miss seeing their enthusiastic goal celebrations but there is more to them now that makes me swoon and be all fangirly.

oh. ohohoh. gorgeous.
i like that even though the body of the story seems to talk about them growing apart, the last line lends so much hope. well done.

They are drifting apart but not truly, simply matured some more added more depth and reality to their relationship.
Hope springs eternal!

Anyway, I loved it ... "cafe con leche eyes" is a truly 'priceless' line!
and the last line - poignant and endearing....a pleasure to read! :)

Whenever I make my coffee (cafe con leche) I think of Fernando's eyes.... so I had to use it
Thanks =)
