It all began with the Word

Between my request and a completely random similar post at epicfantasy, you all came up with a list of about thirty-seven angel-related titles, which I've compiled into one ginormous resource post (along with a few more titles I found along the way). I hope I didn't miss any? Please let me know and I'll add them ( Read more... )

I haven't read many of these books, but I can maybe point you in the right direction, sure. What kind of thing to do you like to read?

The blonde and the brunette... I guess we’re two sides of the same coin, what with the icons and usernames. ;)

Heh, yes! I love Waterhouse, especially his paintings based on the poem. And it seems she is known in all the land, the Lady of Shalott. :)

Vinter's luck is WONDERFUL ninahdevi September 1 2009, 21:37:36 UTC
I just read vintner's luck and COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. It's lovely and strange and totally relevant to our interests, those of us who enjoy the conflicted angel/human interaction on SPN.

It's also pretty deep, perplexing, and stays with you long after the finish. and I think it demands a second reading, some of the things she's doing with language and storytelling style seem odd and don't become evident till you read the last pages.

There's a movie being released later this year directed by Niki Caro who did "whale rider" it look luscious...But definitely read the book first to get the full experience.

I also read the Damiano trilogy years ago--love, love, love it!

Vintner's Luck was easily the top recommendation for me--I love books with the kind of complexity that keep me engaged on a deeper level. Light fun is good, but too much light reading and I get bored. So, I ordered it right away and got it yesterday. I can't wait to start reading it.

I'd say the number 2 recommendation was I, Lucifer, which I'll probably read next.

I loved the Damiano books, too! I'm a little afraid that they won't be quite so shiny if I go back and read them now, but I remember being absolutely enthralled when I was, er, 14? Thereabouts.
