dawnebeth's most recent bingo post reminded me how much I like
Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying by
istia. Between that and
shooting2kill's accompanying comment that istia is a fine writer who could use more attention, I decided to sample a couple more of istia's fics. I chose
Night Visit and
The Eve of Destruction.
Night Visit is an unusual fic. I wished there were more of it, but I enjoyed it as far as it went, and as written it did have the feeling of a small bubble of time set apart from the rest, which fit its story. B/D slash. 4,343 words.
The Eve of Destruction is a fic told from Cowley's point of view, which endears it to me as a Cowley fan. I thought it was a very believable glimpse into Cowley's thoughts as he faces the stresses of his position. B/D slash. 3,751 words.

I don't think it is going to take me all year to fill up my bingo card. Not unless I make a rule only to count novel-length fics, anyway. Fanfic is all I read most of the time. That is not ideal, of course, but I have my own strange, chelonian reasons. Maybe when I finish this card I will just start another one.
