Prompted by the (apparently false) belief I had that there had been a Clockwork Kingdom in the books, I now wonder what books we're considering canon here. If any. ( Even Baum couldn't get his canon right. )
It was partially for roleplay reference however. Where we mostly stick to canon countries (Ev and Ix) but have wandered into at least one country different (The Land of the Five Nations - five matriarchal tribes from five different climates/environments [Desert/Tundra/Forest/Cliffs/Plains])
Recently the Clockwork Kingdom was adopted as a new one, even though apparently I'd only ever seen it in a fic.
according to Baum's map(s), the O.Z. is surrounded by deserts, yet the uppermost part of the Queendom (I'm sticking with the term, I like it) is Icy North
No. There is a "Paper Kingdom" Actually its a town in Oz where the people are like Paper Dolls, and it is from the fifth book in the series, " The Emerald City of Oz." That book probably explores Oz's weird little villages the most. There was one where the people were literally jigsaw puzzles, one where cutlery were alive and one populated by bunnies too

I just stick with North, South, East and West (properly flipped, of course)
and the Deadly Desert, of course...
and, occasionally, the Black Mountains...
and I may have made a passing reference to Shiz with the boys...

Maybe it's a cold desert. Like Antarctica.

So, on my map, I just made it an inland frozen...magical sea. Lol, when in doubt I suppose, claim it's magic.
