"Welcome home," The Queen and her husband greeted them. Ahamo immediately stepped forwards and hugged his daughters.  Adora arrived out and hugged her husband. Wyatt's embrace was decidely limp. She barely noticed, especially as Jeb had decided to give her a hug too.The Queen waited for her turn with her daughters, nodding at Zero.

"We, uh, heard about our guest," Zero remarked.

The Queen gave a nod before hugging her daughters. "Oh, my dears, you need rest. You all do," she added to the men.

"Our guest," Ahamo hissed the word, "is currently under the protection of Ev. We can't touch him."

"We need Ambrose," Zero replied, he moved past them into the castle.

They found themselves following him to Ahamo's office. Ahamo had sent a guard to fetch the former Zipperhead.Once arriving at the office, Zero grabbed a map and lay it out on the nearest table. "Ok. We need to stop the Ev from getting in. We need to block this area," he pointed to the Deadly Desert."

"The temperatures up there is fierce, Zero," Ahamo responded.

Zero nodded. "We use mines," he replied, a hand going up to his nose, scratching it.

"Mines?" Ahamo repeated, suppressing a shudder. "They tend to kick you in the ass, Zero. I mean, even, generations from now..."

"It's the Deadly Desert, sir. We're just making it that much deadlier. And, uh, we can tag 'em and note their positions. Besides the Ev will know about them soon enough."

"And what's to prevent them from stopping us?" Wyatt asked as Ambrose was led in. "From leaving the mines," he added for his benefit.

That was all Ambrose needed. "Pulse mines. We could equip them with variable geometry detonators." Ahamo heart was breaking. Hawk's victims slipped into his mind, so he said nothing.

"Not good enough," Wyatt shook his head. "Snipers could pick them off at distance and sail on through."

"What if... what if we, uh, make them invisible, you know, with a spell?"

"Doesn't always work with the Ev," Adora pointed out.

"Even... even if they're, really small?

"Really small wouldn't have much power," Ambrose pointed out. "It would take dozens to take down a single tank."

"Self replication." Zero broke the silence.

"Self replication?"

"If they're gonna be small, we'll be needing a lot. And we're gonna need them replaced quick, if the Ev or Hawk try to destroy them."

Ambrose was nodding. "Can it be done?" Ahamo asked.

"I may need the sisters' help," he mused.

"We could get them to swam detonate," Wyatt added. "Twenty or thirty to a tank?"

"The, eh, only problem is that we'll have to wait until all the mines before activating it. The proximity sensors could target us."

"I'm going to find the sisters," Ambrose decided, rushing out the door.

"I'll find mine," Zero added, following.

Ahamo looked over at Cain. "I've to go talk to my wife." He didn't move.

"It must be very difficult," Ahamo went to his side. "I can't imagine what you're going through. But the emotions, I think I understand what you're feeling?"

Wyatt pushed out the breath he was unconsciously holding. "I'm mostly feeling guilty... because the woman I love isn't the woman I married."

"No, apparently, she's a gardening assassin." Weeding out bad guys wherever she finds them. Ahamo resisted laughing.

"I don't mean that! Well, yeah, that too. But well..."

"Lavender Eyes your thing too?"

Cain nodded. "Yes, sir."

"So... guilt." Ahamo folded his arms. "Well, I can definitely relate, Mr Cain. Fifteen years is a long time."

Cain snorted. "Yeah, but you're back with your wife. Was there... was anyone...?"

Ahamo laughed. "We didn't have many hidden royalty in the Realm of the Unwanted, Mr Cain. Keeping away from the Resistance kept me from being discovered. No, nothing that could approach Lavender. But you found someone. Ignoring it isn't going to solve anything. You want my advice, Cain?"

Cain looked up when he realised Ahamo was expecting an answer. "Yes, sir."

"Decide what you want and do it. The longer you drag this out, the more painful it's gonna be. You're doing Adora no favours by giving her hope."

"Thank you." Cain replaced his hat and pulled on the peak. Ahamo nodded back and Cain left.
