Summary: It begins slowly. There's a face in the crowd, a voice on the phone, a dead man's song playing softly on a broken radio. By the time they're aware, it's already too late. (There's no reason to go back now.)

Thank you so much for your comments! I'm especially glad to see that Aaron's came across as I intended. After Claire's little visit in the show, I wanted to take that idea and run. It's kind of what inspired the whole fic.

Oh, Lord. This one threw me for so much of a loop that I honestly can't come up with anything to say. (Besides quoting the whole fic, that is.) Your portrait of Sayid in particular was perfect, the insight into how Ben gets under skin... And good ol' Ben, still thinking he had a daughter instead of kidnapped a girl who would be alive if he'd left her alone. That's Ben for you: it's destiny being cruel to him, not his own choices. Chilling and true.

Exactly. He has the idea that he's smarter than everyone else, and when things don't go according to plan...must be the island.

oh my god. this is so frigging amazing, seriously. you slay me, totally. I had CHILLS go down my back so many times (especially at last). wow. I honestly don't know what to say to tell you how much I enjoyed that.

Woah... I don't find S4 (or S3) that emotional, it's like they ignore the characters and only want to tell some story (that doesn't even make much sense), and this fic was what it could've looked like if the show still had the depth. Indeed, chilling and simply great.
