After their last outing had once again taken a tumultuous turn, the Doctor had found himself growing increasingly anxious for another attempt at a date, but one that actually progressed with relatively little bother. He briefly thought it was, perhaps, too much to hope for, but that had never stopped him before. This time, he decided, the best ( Read more... )

The TARDIS had watched the Doctor cook numerous times before, but there was something decidedly different in his approach today. His demeanour had changed, the pulse of his hearts almost eager, and she watched him with a detached interest once he'd addressed her.

A date is satisfactory to me, Doctor, she said softly, manifesting completely to stand just behind him, leaning over to better see what he was doing. I have been studying Earth culture, yes, and have come across the meanings of such engagements. It pleases me to know you desire to share this type of encounter with me. She pursed her lips, reaching into the water and drawing her hand back swiftly. Will it take long?

Chiding her for sticking her hand in boiling water would've done no good, as the damage had already been done, but he did spare her a briefly disapproving look before quickly turning once more to the task at hand.

The pasta is nearly done. I'll strain it and set it aside while I finish the sauce to accompany it. Dessert is already prepared, and I'm quite certain you'll enjoy it, as chocolate is the primary ingredient.

The Doctor wiped his hands, then looked up to regard her. Should we dress a bit more formally, or is our attire suitable? I haven't had much experience with this myself, so I'm not versed in the proper protocol. Perhaps we should simply wear whatever we deem comfortable.

She sniffed at his look, feigning innocence. Though at the mention of chocolate, she rather perked up, grinning widely. I can approve of this, she said gleefully, clapping her hands together. Can we not simply have dessert? Must we eat this pasta, as well?

She knew the answer without having to hear him say it and continued on to address his next question. What use are clothes? I do not see any reason to change attire to fit any sort of event. Does doing so make a difference?

Though fond of chocolate himself, the Doctor felt it the responsible thing to do by denying her request. Dessert is enjoyable, TARDIS, but not particularly substantial. Besides, I've a feeling you'll enjoy this pasta, since I'm making it with cheese, which I remember you being similarly fond of, yes?

The Doctor patted his coat thoughtfully, considering her question. Well...people wear different attire to suit different occasions. Generally, you wouldn't find people wearing only their knickers at a wedding. For something...romantic, they often dress with a certain amount of panache.
