You say nearby windows, I'm assuming one of them was at the manor - he IS in the backyard, right? XD whitecladprince February 2 2011, 11:11:31 UTC
Rufus had been sitting inside, his back to the window, reading a paper with his coffee, the loud explosion and subsequent shattering of the window behind him causing him to spit out a spray of coffee all of the paper in front of him.

He stared at the now wet and brown newspaper, and glared, nonplussed, at the smearing ink. Then he stood, folding the paper neatly and setting it on the table, wiped his mouth on his napkin, then turned to look out the now-open window at the redhead doing half-victory dance, half-oh-shit-fire-put-it-out motions.

"Reno..." His voice carried, though he most certainly did not yell. Oh no, not at all. His volume was perfectly controlled.

That's not to say his tone was. Oh no, his tone was one that promised certain death were he to be disappointed.

Naturally, a few of the manor's windows would shatter. Yup. turks_reno February 2 2011, 12:30:29 UTC
Luckily, he'd covered most of the smoldering mess with dirt in the few seconds he had between the explosion and Rufus' mention of his name. Oh, he remembered that tone. That was the 'you just did something incredibly stupid, Reno' tone. But he hadn't. He'd managed to find a good blend of explosive and shell, which would help them a great deal later - considering how much happened in this particular Gaia ( ... )

Cissnei, at the sound of the explosion, immediately hit the floor by instinct and clutched onto Rekka. After a few moments, she zipped downstairs from her room to the backyard. "Shiva, Reno, way to be subtle," she said, relaxing. "At least you're putting what I bought you to good use."

She picked up a rather large glass shard and set it aside, closer to where most of the shards were. She had been tempted to throw it at a tree to test her aiming skills but decided against it seeing that Rufus was nearby.

He'd just come from being reprimanded for breaking the windows, and had begun picking up a bit more after the blast. Of course, Cissnei's comment had him grinning from ear to ear again.

"Took me a while to get it just right. But yeah... that wasn't even a lot of the stuff. Next time we get hauled into some end-of-the-world scenario, we'll at least have some punch to hit back with." Now he just had to find safe ways of storing it, but would still allow for quick blending.

He bent over to pick up what looked to be a charred leg of the table he'd been working on. "I'm gonna need somewhere to work, too... This thing's history."

Knock-Knock Mr. President turks_reno February 6 2011, 23:44:52 UTC
It was only the following evening, after a majority of the windows facing the backyard of the manor were repaired, that Reno rapped lightly on the door to Rufus' room. "Sir? You got a few minutes?" He really did have something important to ask the guy, after all. The last thing he needed was to have to pay for and reinstall another set of windows.

Rufus didn't look up from the book he was reading when the knock on the door came. "Come in," he called. When the Turk entered, he finally glanced up. "Yes, Reno?" he said, looking at the redhead coolly, book still open in his hand.

He eyed the book for a moment or two, then lifted his gaze to the blond. Having gone through Meteor wasn't exactly a prerequisite of being a good leader, right? Rufus had always been cunning, and logical. And Reno was hoping this would be no exception.

"I need a lab. Or an old, abandon warehouse. Or something I can use to keep working on these bombs, if we're going to have them ready to use anytime soon. And I'd rather not risk the manor - or anyone in the area - just to keep working. So... think you could help a Turk out here? Having explosives in your line of defense will make living here a hell of a lot easier."

Rufus blinked, then raised his eyebrows, leaning back in his chair and closing his book. He observed Reno for a long moment, head tilted to one side just slightly. Finally, he spoke. "I see." The blond crossed one arm across his chest, his other hand coming up to rest beneath his chin, icy blue eyes watching the Turk carefully.
