Summary: When Reno and explosives collide!
Location: Lindblum - Theater District
When: February 1
Warnings: Reno's mouth. And high explosives. Did I mention Reno's mouth?
Ever since Cissnei's birthday, Reno had been busy. Very busy. Nearly every day that didn't see him being sent out on tasks and errands given to him by Tseng or Rufus, he'd be found outside the manor, as far from it as he could get, working with various amounts of charcoal, sulfur and salt peter - and many types of containers.
It had taken a week before he'd worked out a blend of the three ingredients that he liked. Another week or so before finding a method of putting the home-made gunpowder into containers to get them to actually pop at all. Trial and error. Shinra's plastic explosives had him spoiled, he realized. Putting this stuff together from scratch - no lab-tested chemical compounds to be found - was far more difficult than he'd expected.
But he kept at it, returning from the yard smelling of sulfur and 'burn' many days, until today. Until right now.
Luckily, he knew better than to just stand around after making and lighting a bomb. He'd found a nice mound of earth to hide behind. And this time? It was worth it.
The explosion wasn't quite so big as to do real harm to the manor (though perhaps there were some eves that had gotten a bit crispy?), and the rest of Lindblum was (of course) spared any damage - but it was strong enough to shatter a few nearby windows, rattle a slew of picture frames, and garner the attention of nearly everyone in the Theater District as a plume of smoke rose from behind the manor that Rufus Shinra had bought.
This ear-blasting explosion was followed a few seconds later by an enthusiastic whoop and a cheerful 'HELL YEAH!' as Reno dashed over to the smoldering hole that had once been a table of his bomb-making ingredients, kicking dirt over the charred and smoking remains. It had worked!
