Only three of them against so many? Shemhazai worried of the odds. It was no doubt that the Viera's friends would come for her, just like Famfrit had said, but how soon? They had to get the ritual underway before anything stopped their plans.

"We must proceed with the ritual before they make themselves known. Worry not about our fallen brethren."

It seemed as if Hashmal had failed to take the host, and as for the other stones, it was unfortunate that they could not gather them before the heroes had.

"Shemhazai is right, start the ritual; we will deal with these 'friends' when they show themselves."

A fool could see the odds were not in their favor, but they had Virgo and a host for the Blood Seraph. Should they be able to wake her, the odds would very quickly fall into their favor. There would be nothing to stop them then and those who tried would be crushed for their efforts.

Agreeing with the duo, Famfrit decided it was time to begin the ritual first before embarking upon the task of killing off their uninvited guests. If they couldn't reach the Necrohol of Mullonde without the aid of the Scriptures, then the Lucavi will simply have to make due with what they have. The Stone of Virgo already picked Mjrn to be its host, but will Ultima's soul respond to the stone's desire? Famfrit was uncertain if this could be done outside of the Necrohol, but he was determined to act as a link between here and the Land of the Dead.

"Then go." Famfrit stated as he snatched the Virgo stone from his pocket.

"Go and bide me time. I can use the power of this gemstone to reach the darkest depths of the Necrohol, but I must pour my own magick into it. Darkness responds to darkness, Ultima will hear my prayers." Just when he stated his plans, Famfrit tossed the Stone of Virgo towards Mjrn's sleeping form. Instead of falling to the grassy ground lifelessly, the Virgo stone began to float. It hovered above the viera's body, ( ... )

Cid had only seen the doctor briefly when he had been overtaken by the Esper and turned into a demon, or whatever it was now. At this point, he cared little. Cidolfus was an enemy unlike any other who was to be taken down, regardless of who was inhabiting his body. This was just the icing on the cake.

Nabaat and Shinra, however... A bit trickier. Or perhaps not so much, in the case of the Lt. Colonel.

He caught his first glimpse of the woman as he approached the area silently, peeking out from behind one of the many tall rocks in the area. "One at a time," he thought to himself, trying to figure out how to draw Jihl and Jihl alone out.

Kain rode up aboard the fighting chocobo he'd been working with all along, so far with surprisingly useful results. It had worked well in training and the past battle at least. So he was fully determined that it would now, as he neared the area others were gathered at. He knew others should have been there ahead of him, after all... but he wasn't going to let anyone see him as a burden. He was a Dragoon, and a man of Baron, and today he would prove just what that meant.

Even now he was stubbornly prideful to a fault. He couldn't wait to destroy the Lucavi, after all that they'd done to him and others he cared for. There could be no better penance than this.

Of course, Rydia wasn't about to let Kain go off alone. Prideful or not, he still had a significant disadvantage in battle. The exchange for not trying to keep him away from it was that he wouldn't hide his attempts to join in. Besides, she hadn't forgotten what those Lucavi did to him and Cecil. Revenge was in order, and she would be happy to deliver some payback.

She urged her own chocobo onward, keeping up with the dragoon easily enough. Her hand gripped one of her rods, ready to use it as soon as it seemed necessary. Trouble would find them soon enough, of that she was certain.

Noting the duo from his high position, Adrammelech took a moment to note their position before vanishing from the hovering station he'd taken after leaving Raines and Shemhazi.

Appearing behind them still in his actual form, Adrammelech decided to continue in his caution learned from the last inhuman mage faced in that church, casting Aphony upon the woman as she looked more the magic user than her companion. Turning his attention to the man on the chocobo, he began to draw in his limbs against himself, lighting flickered about his form as he drew in power in preparation to cast Thundaja on the pair.

During the ritual, Famfrit's gaze shifted away from Mjrn's slumbering form and towards the stars above. The luminous light that emitted from the Stone of Virgo shot towards the heavens above with such splendor. He was doing his best to channel all of its might, trying desperately to awake the girl as the Blood Seraph.

However, in the middle of this sacred ritual, a murderous aura interrupted his thoughts. He could feel them converging upon now; he could feel the hatred that these heroes possessed. It was simply divine to feel such murderous desires within these mortals.

"Is it bloodshed they seek...?" The creature chortled in mild delight. “Such hatred, it can be used to fuel our cause.” Kneeling down briefly to caress Mjrn's lips with his claw-like fingers, Famfrit vanished only to reappear once more before this band of heroes after Adrammelech went on the offense ( ... )

One thing a person should never do is piss Fran off. And a sure fire way of pissing her off is to mess with her baby sister. The Strahl hovered in the air close to the Pinnacle Rocks, the invisibility shield hiding it from view.

Fran was more ready for battle than she had ever been in her life. Her own safety mattered not, only that of her sister. She was armed with her Quickenings, bow and plenty of arrows, her axe and of course her natural weapos - her claws. Anger coursed through her blood, her eyes dark and almost feral looking.

As he promised Reis and Bartz, Ramza made his way towards the monastery once he arrived in Lindblum. With both Yuffie and Ovelia in tow, the three of them rented chocobos from a local stable in order to make up for lost time. The young mercenary had no idea what horrors would await for them there, but Ramza was determined to save Mjrn. Nothing would stop him from succeeding, not even the Lucavi's might ( ... )

Yuffie jumped off of her chocobo, pulling her shuriken, Conformer, off of her back. She gripped it tightly, looking ahead. She wanted to kick some serious Lucavi butt right now. But they couldn't just run in guns blazing. They had to work out a plan.

"They've gotta be near."

Ovelia's heart was pounding--God, was it pounding. She had been in dangerous situations before, but none in which she was openly involved--not since Zirechile Falls had her blood felt so thick, her head so light.

She almost felt like she was truly alive, part of the battle and part of the team. Though a bit clumsy on her disembark, Ovelia slid off her chocobo and patted it, partially to reassure him that she was finally off and her clumsy riding wouldn't have to trouble him, and partially herself, because...

Honestly, she wasn't sure how she was going to do this.

Mjrn was in danger, and somehow...Ramza, Yuffie...and she, were all going to be of assistance.

Before she was sacrificed to these Lucavi. These...these monsters.

Her voice hitched and trembled, but the resolve kept in her throat as she clutched a large oak staff to her chest (well, more like a giant stick she found lying around, but it was certainly better than a lack of a weapon, right?).

"We must take care, then."

And of course, onward came the Immortal. His face was covered almost completely by his veil, but his eye did enough to explain his current feelings even without most of his face being viewable. If one could see it, they would be surprised. He was smirking underneath - face twisted into an expression that wasn't his. It wasn't even human.

This...
was fun. He couldn't say he'd stretched his legs like this in a long time; Gaia or otherwise. And the abbhorations within him? They were loving this.
Every. Last. One of them.

An odd azure fog seemed to follow the youth, yet he paid it very little mind - merely cracking his shoulders back and listening to his spinal cord click in complaint as it settled back into the position it should be.

For as poorly as that first unplanned encounter with the Lucavi went, Reis had no intention of allowing this one end in like manner. Having seen the local healer for restoration first, she'd collected her gear and pulled out the knives she had packed for protection. If only she'd thought to keep them on her person in the vaults.

And there was the young man she'd met in the monastery. A strange fog followed him and it piqued her curiosity, but that would have to wait, there was a task to be done here. These demons had to meet their end and Mjrn be rescued. Reis could not stomach the thought that she unwittingly brought the sweet Viera to these grounds only to lead her to play a part in Gaia's doom.

He twitched violently in the fog- and brought his eye to Reis. As violent as the involentary movement was it stopped immediately at the knowledge he was not physically alone. Subconciously however... He heard Nareema's voice somewhere, somehow. Her poor, pathetic floaty voice. She'd always struggled. And this.. He finally knew what it was like to struggle to keep his current form.

...Muddies the purest...
Our blood.. souls, the same.

He barely knew he was repeating her words in the same tone she'd used back then. Distant. Floating. Drifting. Such was the state he was currently in. Known only upon his world as azure lore; it confined all human inhabition. All fear, all emotion. All that remained was a monster's senseless desire to overpower it's foes. And to consume them.

Our souls..His reverie disappeared instantly as his good eye - replaced with a lamian eye- narrowed. There. There they were. Wordlessly he ran forward, already bloody scimitar glinting dangerously in the sunlight as he commenced an all out attack. Gone was the ( ... )

Selphie had made her way through the monastery as fast as haste would allow her. The monsters in the place were as bad as the information she'd received had told her. Her rapier was held in front of her, prepared for any future assaults. There was no knowing what this beasts known as Lucavi would do next so the perky brunette was ready for anything.

She'd run into Bartz along the way and while she knew it was futile in trying to stop the youth, she could help him to survive the next fight. It was the least she could do. Enough havoc had already been wrecked by these monsters as she tightened the grip on her Rapier's hilt.

She'd do her part, just like the rest of them.

It had taken some time, but thanks to the warnings given, he arrived at the scene just as others were showing up. An airship, lovely and magnificent, hovered above his head as another man on a chocobo - followed by a woman on a similar mount - gathered. The looks on their faces matched his own - this was a mission of vengeance ( ... )

Even with his mind set on revenge - both for what had been done to him and what had been done to Rufus - Tseng's eyes flickered over the forces gathered before them. One airship, bearing who knew how many. A man and a young woman on a pair of chocobos. And a young man shrouded in an odd blue fog.

An odd bunch, but he wasn't going to complain. The more people - and the more focused people - they had willing to fight here today the better it would go in the long run. Revenge was the most powerful motivator of all, and that seemed to all but echo around the battlefield.

"You'll get your chance," Tseng answered as he drew close enough to be heard. "We can't risk moving too soon."

Not that he didn't want to rush in and be rid of the thing that had taken over Rufus Shinra's body, but he'd seen first hand what would come of that, and it wasn't exactly something he was looking to experience again.

"Has Cissnei checked in yet?"

The voice had him smirking as he turned to face Tseng. "It's not a party till everyone's here, after all," he insisted, checking the coral ring on his finger. Despite being cut in a more masculine fashion, it seemed just too pretty to be carried into battle. But it would help keep the powerful lightning attacks at bay. It would eliminate their sting, though he knew that the lightning was just one of the many types of attack the thing likely was capable of.

The thing.

Reno couldn't help but be amazed at how quickly 'Rufus' had been replaced by 'the thing'. He couldn't even consider that Rufus was part of it now. It'd have him hesitating, and he couldn't hesitate.

"She should be here soon, sir. She seemed only a short distance away from you when I checked the phone," he replied grimly. And he knew she'd have a little ring that looked very much like Reno's on her finger, as well.

In addition to pockets full of potions - the best they could afford to buy. Or steal.

"Sorry I'm late," Cissnei swiftly said as she caught up with her fellow Turks. "Stockpiling." She had with her a small pack full of potions and a few hi-potions that she had bought and from a few friendly little creatures that decided to cross her. She observed with a keen eye the variety of people gathering around, from very foreign-looking warriors to people mounted on chocobos.

"No rest for the wicked," she said seriously. "This is going to get very messy."

Unlike Tseng and Reno, who had an affinity for Rufus, she wasn't fueled by revenge, at least not the same kind. She was angry at what they had done, the deaths, the horrors. It wasn't quite as personal as it was for them, but it was fuel enough to get her ready for combat. With a freshly sharpened Rekka on her side, she awaited orders from Tseng.
