"We must proceed with the ritual before they make themselves known. Worry not about our fallen brethren."
It seemed as if Hashmal had failed to take the host, and as for the other stones, it was unfortunate that they could not gather them before the heroes had.

A fool could see the odds were not in their favor, but they had Virgo and a host for the Blood Seraph. Should they be able to wake her, the odds would very quickly fall into their favor. There would be nothing to stop them then and those who tried would be crushed for their efforts.

"Then go." Famfrit stated as he snatched the Virgo stone from his pocket.
"Go and bide me time. I can use the power of this gemstone to reach the darkest depths of the Necrohol, but I must pour my own magick into it. Darkness responds to darkness, Ultima will hear my prayers." Just when he stated his plans, Famfrit tossed the Stone of Virgo towards Mjrn's sleeping form. Instead of falling to the grassy ground lifelessly, the Virgo stone began to float. It hovered above the viera's body, ( ... )

Nabaat and Shinra, however... A bit trickier. Or perhaps not so much, in the case of the Lt. Colonel.
He caught his first glimpse of the woman as he approached the area silently, peeking out from behind one of the many tall rocks in the area. "One at a time," he thought to himself, trying to figure out how to draw Jihl and Jihl alone out.

Even now he was stubbornly prideful to a fault. He couldn't wait to destroy the Lucavi, after all that they'd done to him and others he cared for. There could be no better penance than this.

She urged her own chocobo onward, keeping up with the dragoon easily enough. Her hand gripped one of her rods, ready to use it as soon as it seemed necessary. Trouble would find them soon enough, of that she was certain.

Appearing behind them still in his actual form, Adrammelech decided to continue in his caution learned from the last inhuman mage faced in that church, casting Aphony upon the woman as she looked more the magic user than her companion. Turning his attention to the man on the chocobo, he began to draw in his limbs against himself, lighting flickered about his form as he drew in power in preparation to cast Thundaja on the pair.

However, in the middle of this sacred ritual, a murderous aura interrupted his thoughts. He could feel them converging upon now; he could feel the hatred that these heroes possessed. It was simply divine to feel such murderous desires within these mortals.
"Is it bloodshed they seek...?" The creature chortled in mild delight. “Such hatred, it can be used to fuel our cause.” Kneeling down briefly to caress Mjrn's lips with his claw-like fingers, Famfrit vanished only to reappear once more before this band of heroes after Adrammelech went on the offense ( ... )

Fran was more ready for battle than she had ever been in her life. Her own safety mattered not, only that of her sister. She was armed with her Quickenings, bow and plenty of arrows, her axe and of course her natural weapos - her claws. Anger coursed through her blood, her eyes dark and almost feral looking.

"They've gotta be near."

She almost felt like she was truly alive, part of the battle and part of the team. Though a bit clumsy on her disembark, Ovelia slid off her chocobo and patted it, partially to reassure him that she was finally off and her clumsy riding wouldn't have to trouble him, and partially herself, because...
Honestly, she wasn't sure how she was going to do this.
Mjrn was in danger, and somehow...Ramza, Yuffie...and she, were all going to be of assistance.
Before she was sacrificed to these Lucavi. These...these monsters.
Her voice hitched and trembled, but the resolve kept in her throat as she clutched a large oak staff to her chest (well, more like a giant stick she found lying around, but it was certainly better than a lack of a weapon, right?).
"We must take care, then."

This...
was fun. He couldn't say he'd stretched his legs like this in a long time; Gaia or otherwise. And the abbhorations within him? They were loving this.
Every. Last. One of them.
An odd azure fog seemed to follow the youth, yet he paid it very little mind - merely cracking his shoulders back and listening to his spinal cord click in complaint as it settled back into the position it should be.

And there was the young man she'd met in the monastery. A strange fog followed him and it piqued her curiosity, but that would have to wait, there was a task to be done here. These demons had to meet their end and Mjrn be rescued. Reis could not stomach the thought that she unwittingly brought the sweet Viera to these grounds only to lead her to play a part in Gaia's doom.

Our blood.. souls, the same.
He barely knew he was repeating her words in the same tone she'd used back then. Distant. Floating. Drifting. Such was the state he was currently in. Known only upon his world as azure lore; it confined all human inhabition. All fear, all emotion. All that remained was a monster's senseless desire to overpower it's foes. And to consume them.
Our souls..His reverie disappeared instantly as his good eye - replaced with a lamian eye- narrowed. There. There they were. Wordlessly he ran forward, already bloody scimitar glinting dangerously in the sunlight as he commenced an all out attack. Gone was the ( ... )

She'd run into Bartz along the way and while she knew it was futile in trying to stop the youth, she could help him to survive the next fight. It was the least she could do. Enough havoc had already been wrecked by these monsters as she tightened the grip on her Rapier's hilt.
She'd do her part, just like the rest of them.

An odd bunch, but he wasn't going to complain. The more people - and the more focused people - they had willing to fight here today the better it would go in the long run. Revenge was the most powerful motivator of all, and that seemed to all but echo around the battlefield.
"You'll get your chance," Tseng answered as he drew close enough to be heard. "We can't risk moving too soon."
Not that he didn't want to rush in and be rid of the thing that had taken over Rufus Shinra's body, but he'd seen first hand what would come of that, and it wasn't exactly something he was looking to experience again.
"Has Cissnei checked in yet?"

The thing.
Reno couldn't help but be amazed at how quickly 'Rufus' had been replaced by 'the thing'. He couldn't even consider that Rufus was part of it now. It'd have him hesitating, and he couldn't hesitate.
"She should be here soon, sir. She seemed only a short distance away from you when I checked the phone," he replied grimly. And he knew she'd have a little ring that looked very much like Reno's on her finger, as well.
In addition to pockets full of potions - the best they could afford to buy. Or steal.

"No rest for the wicked," she said seriously. "This is going to get very messy."
Unlike Tseng and Reno, who had an affinity for Rufus, she wasn't fueled by revenge, at least not the same kind. She was angry at what they had done, the deaths, the horrors. It wasn't quite as personal as it was for them, but it was fuel enough to get her ready for combat. With a freshly sharpened Rekka on her side, she awaited orders from Tseng.
