The moment the man had picked the stone up, he'd woken. For a minute he waited to see what the other would do with the stone, when it wasn't replaced back into the location it had been taken from, he sat up and stretched a hand out, palm upwards, toward the older man which held it still. "Give that back to me and explain just why you're going through my things, Tseng."

Unfortunately for Rufus, Tseng had no inclination whatsoever to hand over the stone. Or at least, not just yet, anyway. There was no great harm in him hanging on to it for the moment. Even a stone that was rumored to hold a great power inside wasn't likely to be an immediate threat.

"Not until I have an explanation for this. Why seek out a second stone when you already have one?"

Getting up from the bed he came to stand in front of the other man, hand still out and gaze decidedly displeased. "What business is it of yours? If you so desire explanations, you will give it back to me and receive them then, not before."

Even with that, Tseng refused to be swayed. Yes, it was generally considered a bad idea to give one's employer a reason to be less than pleased with you. But Tseng considered the risk to be worth it.

"I mean no disrespect, sir, but I'd prefer to have the answer first."
