Characters: Tseng and Rufus Progress: Ongoing Summary: The discovery of the Capricorn stone Location: ShinRa Manor Date: Today, backdated slightly to around 8 o'clock this morning Warnings: Violence at the very least
The moment the man had picked the stone up, he'd woken. For a minute he waited to see what the other would do with the stone, when it wasn't replaced back into the location it had been taken from, he sat up and stretched a hand out, palm upwards, toward the older man which held it still. "Give that back to me and explain just why you're going through my things, Tseng."
Unfortunately for Rufus, Tseng had no inclination whatsoever to hand over the stone. Or at least, not just yet, anyway. There was no great harm in him hanging on to it for the moment. Even a stone that was rumored to hold a great power inside wasn't likely to be an immediate threat.
"Not until I have an explanation for this. Why seek out a second stone when you already have one?"
Getting up from the bed he came to stand in front of the other man, hand still out and gaze decidedly displeased. "What business is it of yours? If you so desire explanations, you will give it back to me and receive them then, not before."
Even with that, Tseng refused to be swayed. Yes, it was generally considered a bad idea to give one's employer a reason to be less than pleased with you. But Tseng considered the risk to be worth it.
"I mean no disrespect, sir, but I'd prefer to have the answer first."
The blue eyes narrowed sharply at the man before him, the expression going downright stormy. "You try my patience. Give me the stone before I remove it myself from your broken hands."
In contrast, Tseng's own expression went downright stony at the sudden change in voice. He wasn't quite sure what it meant, but there was no way that whoever or whatever was in charge was even remotely connected to the Rufus Shinra he knew.
"It won't be the only thing I try, if you remain here."
The blue eyes turned a burning violet color as Adrammelech hissed in aggravation at the man before him. "Do you desire to suffer and die for your foolishness, human? Relinquish the stone and I'll let you live yet to see the end of this pathetic world...if you refuse to yet again, I will cause you pain of the likes you have never experienced."
Tseng's scowl deepened at that, as he dropped the stone into his pocket before pulling out his gun in a well-practiced motion and leveling it at the figure before him. He wasn't so easily swayed. Even if his actions would mean his death, he'd long since known that sooner or later his job would kill him. Having it be sooner rather than later made no difference.
"Either offer your answers or get out," he answered, a slight tinge of anger creeping into his voice.]
"You had your chance, mortal." The form of the blond man faded out to be replaced by something decidedly inhuman, goat-like head on a bipedal body covered in green, copper and crimson. Drawing its arms and legs up close to it's torso, Adrammelech glared at the man with eyes of burning scarlet. "You will regret your impertinence." That said, he unleashed the lighting he had been building up toward Tseng.
Tseng blinked once at the sudden appearance of something that had absolutely no relationship to anything human - the only sign of surprise Adrammelech would get from him - and then the lightning was arcing into him.
Over the years he'd gotten more than used to pain. This was something almost beyond it. Something above even what he'd expect of the highest level thunder spells he knew, and to be quite blunt, it hurt. But he wasn't about to let his enemy see that. Instead, he clamped down on the urge to scream, and as soon as he could see through the spots in eyes he leveled his gun at Adrammelech and fired. He'd give no quarter here.
The shot glanced off the armored form, and did more to further piss the demon off than it did damage to him. Giving a snarl which sounded more like a warning rumble of thunder, Adrammelech unfolded his form to gesture at the figure and sent its second most powerful spell upon the man. The magic gathering to strike the figure with the might of Holy.
Tseng scarcely had enough time to recognize the spell for what it was (and if anything was enough to convince him that this truly was another world it was the sight of Holy bearing down on him) before it hit true.
He wasn't surprised that he hurt. What was surprising was how much it hurt. Perhaps it was a side effect of the spell that had come before. Or perhaps it was simply the natural effect of Holy itself. Either way, the result was the same, as Tseng crumpled to the floor without a word from the sheer onslaught of the pain.
