OH NO, DRAGONS morehatthanmage August 1 2010, 13:45:19 UTC
Vivi shook with fear or anger or something deeper as he looked down over Terra, hands grasping his staff so tightly that his knuckles were probably somehow pale under his thick gloves.

He had expected this. He had known there would be nothing left here. But seeing this bashed out that last bit of 'We survived Ultima. Maybe everything else did somehow.'-shaped hope.

And then came that very familiar roar and he steeled his nerves and he turned from the window.

"They're Kuja's! They're dangerous! And- and he must have known!" His voice faltered a little toward the end in terrible realization. "We- we have to get rid of them before they damage Invincible!"

...really in this situation the airship's name sounded a little silly.

The Warrior had been standing to the side for the majority of the journey, looking out of the airship's windows and taking in the terrain of Gaia. He had not yet had time to examine any of the world, so this was probably his best chance to do so, even if he was on his way to Terra, where the knowledge would be of no use ( ... )

"Fuf. Ed'c cu bnaddo..." Rikku's voice was hushed as she watched the almost-watery barrier pass around the ship. She fell silent once the world beyond was revealed, though, her smile fading into a line at the dead landscape. Mikoto had said everything would be destroyed but she hadn't expected...well...this.

She wouldn't have believed a thing could still be alive if those dragons hadn't attacked almost immediately. She backed up from the wall.

"This ship is pretty fancy, can they actually do any real damage? I mean...we'll have to go outside to fight them..." She wasn't particularly keen about standing on the roof of an airship she wasn't familiar with. Well, that and her 'long range attack' consisted of throwing exploding potions, and she didn't want to waste them yet.

Finding a landing spot nomerevessel August 1 2010, 17:55:35 UTC
It was only after they had defeated the dragons that the party could properly survey the ruined world beneath them. Bare rock, ashes, dust. The remains of what might have been mighty structures, blasted and twisted. Some areas were full of jagged rocks, impossible to navigate. Others were islands of ruins, surrounded by dark water. As far as the eye could see, there was nowhere that an airship could land.

Mikoto knew that the others would be depending on her to guide them. She couldn't help but despair a little. The geography of this ruined world was entirely different to the world she had known. If she could, she would take them to Bran Bal. But Bran Bal no longer existed. Where, then, could she take them?

"We will have to land in the first suitable spot," she said flatly. "I will guide you from there."

The Warrior knew little- barely anything, in truth- about airships, or the kind of space they needed to land. He had gotten an impression from the airship docks within Lindblum that docks and such things were needed in order for the flying crafts to land, and yet there was obviously nothing of that sort on Terra. The ship was damaged on top of that, something that he had seen with his own eyes. Finding a place to land seemed less and less likely.

Still, they had a skilled pilot, and a guide of this world. Between those two, the group ought to find something, and be able to disembark from there, it seemed to him. With that thought in mind, he took the time to simply examine the wasteland passing below them. It was a destroyed place, one obviously in ruins, yet he could not begin to imagine how it must once have appeared.

The sight of this broken world nearly caused Edward to weep. It was terrible to think that a once thriving world met its' end so violently. Such a dismal sight worried him greatly since he knew Gaia could face such devastation if they were to fail. Every ounce of life on Gaia was going to perish if they failed on their mission. Idly wondering where could Garland be hiding, Edward glanced over towards Mikoto who stood nearby.

"Yes, we'll need you to guide us here..."

This brought back all the images of Kefka destroying his own world. He wasn't sure he was ready to head back and see the destruction that had been caused, but he sure wasn't about to let Garland continue to destroy worlds like this. Looking over the edge of the airship, he also wondered how they were going to be able to land.

He flashed a grin, "Anyone remember to pack some chocobos, this looks like a long walk!"
