By the time they reached the gate Ianto had locked up the SUV, armed himself with his SIG and was waiting for them.
Jack walked over to an electronic keypad and after studying it for a moment began to work it with his thumbs and the occasion consultation of the wristband on his left arm. It took a few seconds but there was a tell tale, pop as the magnetic field holding the gate shut gave way and it popped open
( ... )
"A universal constant," Jack agreed dryly, moving towards the door. He figured it went without saying that Dean would be turning off the light presently.
Pressing himself against the frame, Jack peered out into the hallway, checking up and down the corridor before shooting across to the far wall, giving Dean his previous position.
Jack couldn't hear anything and with a quick glance towards Dean, he began to creep up the hallway in the direction of the noise.
Jack would have totally let Dean know that something was coming at them from the front.
That was, of course, unless the deep guttural male screaming didn't clue Dean in first.
There was the sound of a shout and then a metallic twang as something hit Jack's body. Jack yelped and quickly threw a punch, followed up by grabbing his attacker around the throat and tossing the guy up against the wall, the Webley quickly pressing against his temple.
"Oh my God, oh my God, don't shoot!" Came a panicked voice and Jack growled, bringing the flashlight up to shine in the guy's face.
"I don't usually hug people who attack me with ... with," Jack looked down and then said in a bemused tone. "With a lunch tray??"
"I'm sorry?" The guy wibbled, looking up and down the hall in a panicked manner. "I thought you were one of the others."
"You attacked me with a fucking lunch tray!" Jack yelled, sounding fairly indignant on this subject.
"Just annoying," Jack snarked back before he gave the guy a little shake to encourage him to answer Dean's question.
"I'm ... I'm Doctor Suko, I founded this place," the man, Dr. Suko, answered in a tired voice.
"Then you know what's going on here," Jack asked.
The man shook his head.
"No, no ... I don't, I mean none of it makes sense, it wasn't supposed to happen like this."
"Like what?" The Captain asked warily, sharing a quick glance with Dean.
Suko looked between the two men and then shook his head violently.
"I need to talk to my lawyer," he mumbled, words that caused Jack to bounce him off the wall once more.
"There's a woman, in a cabin who looks like she might need a good lawyer herself, now what the fuck is going on here?"
"What? Wait, she's still alive?" The doctor's head snapped up and suddenly he threw himself at Jack, wrestling with the decidedly larger Captain. "No! You have to kill her, you have guns both of you, you have to kill her now!!"
"Wow," Dean muttered. "I'm thinking I like the chick who tried to bite my face off better." He rolled his eyes. "What she needs is a cheeseburger. Not a bullet. What's in those pills, asshole? You working some kind of mojo? Maybe found 'em in a steamin meteor or something?"
It was the look of absolute shock on Suko's face that sent a stab of dread through Jack and without really being aware of his own strength, he picked the smaller man up and slamed him against the wall.
"What the fuck have you done here?" Jack snarled, his expression distinctly unpleasant.
Suko's mouth gapped like a landed fish and he looked from Jack to Dean to Jack and then back to Dean, almost as if pleading with the younger man for some sense of safety.
"I ran, tests ... all sorts of tests. So long as people took the second pill it always stayed in the larval stage and just died when the second pill was taken."
Dean was swallowing a bit convulsively at the whole "flying worm attacking people" thing.
"How the fuck did you get FDA approval for this?" He shook his head. "Never mind, just -- tell us how to fucking stop it. You've got to know how to kill the things,"
"When they're in their larval stages, yes." Suko said quietly. "As adults though ... um."
Jack closed his eyes and shook his head.
"We are the stupidest race, ever. All right, so what's going on with that woman, Betty?"
Suko looked down at the ground and mumbled.
"Betty was part of a group of 5 people who didn't take the stop pill in time. The larval, as it's getting ready to mature, it's made them ... insanely hungry. They, I ... there ... I mean, there were 28 of us here at camp, total. Now it's just me, her and ... there was one other member of the group of five but I don't know where he is."
Now, even Jack was looking a bit pale around the jaw line as he stared at Suko.
"There were 28 of you?"
"Part of the program was to have, reasonable portions of food products here at the camp but no more than that. When those ran out..."
"Dude, that is seriously fucked up." Dean checked his gun and went back to scanning the hallway. "So there's only one other guy we gotta watch out for. You didn't have any fucking contingency plans for people refusing to take the other pill?"
"Doubt he was looking much beyond the dollar signs," Jack said sourly. "Don't forget, it sounds like we've got some adult forms of these creatures lurking about as well."

"That's not normal," he stated the obvious, frowning at his own words.
"Come on, let's see what else we can find around here, maybe an infirmary or ... something."
Standing up, he spun towards the door as the sound of an all mighty crash came echoing down the hall from somewhere.
"Perhaps the something first."
