Operation Hide-A-Neighbor

Mar 11, 2009 13:31

So, my neighbors and I do not get along, mainly due to the fact that they won't stop burning, and I won't stop calling the county and the state on their butts. They cut down all the lovely vegetation that hid their property and I've lost my privacy (and property value). So I'm trying to make lemonaide out of lemons, and perhaps I can make my ( Read more... )

Maybe start out with the planting and do it as close as possible to your coop, don't give those freaks any reason to come along and trim any of your stuff.
Do your smaller things first...leave the big shed for last since it seems to have the most work needed.

Good point about the plants - I was actually hoping to put rain barrels behind the sheds, but perhaps that's not the best idea. (rain barrels in this drought seems so pointless....)

Oh my - I feel for you. I'd be pissed off too. Good plan on the planting. I've been planning to plant butterfly bushes along my fence line on the right to hide my neighbor (don't mind him too much, but people are always coming and going on the dirt path and it creates lots of dust and general annoyance).

We should find a way to make a date and hang out. Do you go tubing?

I love butterfly bushes and I'm thinking of ordering some. Here, they die back almost the the ground in winter. Consider spirea "bridal wreath" - they're beautiful, but they don't smell as good.

Never been tubing, but I'm not sure I should - is it pretty rough? I'd love to go hike, though - never done that, but around here, I don't know of any place to go.

I have honeysuckle growing on my yard fence that's in between the pasture and my neighbors road. The water co-op has a tank down this road and they come out twice a day at lightning speed down this road, you can imagine the dust. I don't know that the honeysuckle helps, but I wanted something on the fence and figure what the heck.

I went tubing down the San Gabriel when I was around 20...I have never done it again. Scared the crap out of me :)

I've got a tiny bit left from when the neighbors cut everything down - it's making a comeback, and to me, any little bit helps! Specially if it has flowers.

I'm hoping to have lots of vines along the fence this year. Sad thing is they all die back in winter.
