I LOATHED it.

I enjoyed the beginning, thought Ten and Eleven were a riot together but then Moffat had to go and completely ruin the Time War which is you know the entire basis on which RTD's show was written.

Billie Piper's return was totally pointless and she and Tennant barely appeared in the same frame together. What a waste.

Also the episode totally lacked emotion.

I had forgotten how much I disliked Moffat's writing, this episode reminded me why I didn't bother checking out the last seasons.

The only redeemable things about the episode were Tennant and Smith's acting together, John Hurt who's always brilliant and seeing Four in a cameo at the end. The rest was pointless and an insult to RTD.

Exactly, I don't get why he had to touch the Time war.

He could've written a nice funny episode with Ten and Eleven but no, he had to make it big and ruin his predecessor's work because he's a selfish megalomaniac.

This is the man who managed to insert himself into every single era of Who with his latest puzzlebox-instead-of-woman Clara.

I haven't watched the episode. I didn't trust Moffat not to muck things up somehow and it sounds like he did with the Time War. And knowing how much of a troll he has been to shippers in the past, I'm not surprised that he completely avoided any semblance of Ten and Rose, despite having the actors back.

I suppose we should at least sigh in relief that Moffat didn't do anything to further try and knock down the ship.

I've got mixed feelings about this, but honestly, I ended up being glad they didn't touch Rose's character. Wasn't crazy about what Moffat did with Ten, but the Moment/Bad Wolf thing was enough for me in terms of Billie's return.

I'm not a fan of the way Moffat writes his characters, especially the women, so I was worried when I heard the plans for the 50th. It was great to see them again but I'm not bummed out that we didn't get to see Ten/Rose together- at least that means they didn't get wrecked- they're still together, safe and happy in Pete's world. I trust fandom with them a whole lot more anyways.

Me too re. Rose. I actually thought Piper was good-scary as the BW-whatever thingie and that her character's beginning interaction with John Hurt's Doc was promising but then after that it all seemed rushed. Clara didn't seem to feature much despite being so integral to Moffat's seasons? It would've been nicer to see more of her character being 'wrenched' from her life into what is chaotic derrings-do with Eleven.

Ten & Eleven's back-and-forth was pretty cool, more like best-friend/sibling dynamics than 'selves' and the "let's rush through Elizabethan England' bummed me out though that's more my Renaissance nerdery being...insulted, haha. Probably would've squeed out loud if Ten actually picked up the lute and started playing!

I really loved what she did with the Bad Wolf angle. It was fun, and snarky, and had that hint of danger that Bad Wolf always calls up. The "Bad Wolf girl," thing though? Coulda done without it. Bad Wolf is a goddess, not a little girl. :P ( ... )

Yeah, if they're going to chuck in some historical lush costumes then camp it up hardcore, giggle. Ten & Eleven's antics definitely heighten the excitement over the new Doc incarnation :D and I guess Moffat's crew now have an infinite well of plot loose ends to 'pursue' as it were so they better! *shakes nerdgirl fist not-so-menacingly*

I'm just going to directly copy+paste a comment I made elsewhere earlier:

I watched "The Day of The Doctor". I liked a lot of bits. Especially the interaction (and loved Ten calling Eleven out). Bad Wolf is one of my favourite "Doctor Who" things so I *squeed*. But in general I'm not happy as I should be. Damn arrogance with things. Messing-up with my favourite Doctor's story & growth. Felt a bit like Moffat was trying to be mean to RTD. Like Nine's learning to be more 'human' again plot after being in a war and doing something horrid (the being in great pain but slowly letting people in close again & having genuine moments of silliness!). The Gallifrey* is frozen thing I thought was already done by RTD, but it was like Moffat was going "It was all my idea! This is a new thing! Aren't I clever?!". I AM DISGRUNTLED by not letting more past actors/actresses be in it. Like they could even have had them record new voice clips instead of reusing the old ones. "The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot" did a good job of showing just how ridiculous ( ... )

I really enjoyed it - despite being as RELIEVED as I was DISAPPOINTED that it wasn't really Rose, since I knew Moffat would fuck it up if he HAD brought Rose and Ten.5 back. As someone who is never fucking satisfied with a Moffat finale, I was pretty fucking pleased with how things turned out

BUT PERFECT INTRO FOR PETER CAPALDI.. "... AND THIRTEEN." wish they could've actually shown 8.5 regenerating into Nine though instead of just recycling that Christopher Eccleston moment even if that was glorious.

Old Rusty will always be my favourite though.. Parting of the Ways, Doomsday, Last of the Time Lords, and Journey's End packed in more emotion individually than any and all of Moffat's works, to be quite fucking honest. If anything it just makes me want to rewatch the Nine and Ten episodes.

BUT IN REGARDS TO THE PARALLEL POCKET UNIVERSE, NGL AM DEFINITELY INCORPORATING THAT INTO MY IMMORTAL!BAD WOLF HEADCANON WHERE SOMEHOW TEN AND ROSE CAN BE TOGETHER AFTER THEY FIND GALLIFREY (BUT STILL OF COURSE BE ABLE TO TRAVEL TO OTHER PLACES

Amen.

At this point I'm pretty much treating Moffat's era as some sort of strange dual universe that branched off somewhere.

*handwaves* Of course it's possible. Pfft.

I figure if Moffat can handwave away DW continuity for the last several years (and/or decades), I can do the same for anything he's written. xD

What about The Final Sanction that Rasillon and the Council were planning???? All those Time Lords who were planning it are still running Gallifrey.
