Snowdrops!

On 5 February, the first snowdrop in bloom (and the buds too) surprised me in one of those alien gardens that get more sun than anything else around.

Snowdrops aren't really spring flowers here, mind you, so it's normal for them to go into bloom in February and they are tough survivors, but it had been a heavy winter and there was still plenty of solid ice on the ground, that's why I was so surprised to see any of them - or even just an ice-free garden.




The other gardens still looked like this:









5 February: There were more snowdrops in those gardens now.



They were bursting out of the ground:









And there were dog footprints in the dried mud. :)



And ice in the garden from the second photo was reduced to this.
