After the first few, I stopped telling my family when I had a new job. I was just opening the door to ridicule, and I was getting enough of that from myself.

I had a simple plan for my post-grad life: get a job in my field, be outstanding, receive promotions, live happily ever after. It didn't work out quite that way.

My feelings towards math are the same. But there are definitely worse things in life than math! Loved that line. I'm so glad you found your niche and have excelled!

I was amused to see the "not math" rule from the very beginning, because I was thinking, "Wait, isn't she in accounting???" But, I totally get this, because I was the same way... I stumbled into accounting by accident through a few years of contracting, after infamously saying on a regularly basis, "accounting is a 4-letter word!" ;-) But, yeah, I love the work, too... isn't it surprising when things you would have sworn could never make you happy somehow defy conventional wisdom, and just DO??? That's how I married my husband! XD
