whatever happened to global warming?

It's snowing for the third time in two years. It's been snowing for almost two hours. Guess what?  That's right: my school didn't cancel for the day, like, oh, EVERYTHING ELSE in the area.

It's cold and it's snowing and I want to go home.

life, the weather gods have gone crazy, reaction, school, undergrad

A warming event in the Pacific called El Nino resulted in large amounts of moisture entering the air. This tends to cause droughts in California, as the air bypasses the west coast.

The result is what you are seeing now: A massive deposit of cold and moisture farther afield.

It's been happening all winter. The cold freezes, the snow, the general weirdness.

Oh wow. How many inches have you gotten so far? That sucks about needing to go to school though. *hugs*

Barely an inch, I think, and it didn't stay on the ground for long at all. Not like December '08, when the snow stayed for a day and a half.

and up here in the frozen north of the East Coast, we've barely had any lately. things are amiss.

dang, that sucks. if it's any consolation, my highschool NEVER had snow days, and that was fine for the kids who lived on campus. not so much for the day students.

I don't think we ever got snowdays at my highschool, either. We got hurricane days, though. Of course, before the oddness of December '08(when snow stayed on the ground for a day and a half) it hadn't snowed since 2001.

And it's getting hotter and hotter here each day. I've set my aircond to the lowest possible setting and I still have to turn on the fan.

I need some of your snow over here.
