Truth be told when all was said and done, it felt good to be different again. It wasn’t the same kind of different, and it certainly wasn’t the sort of different she’d go around picking, but it wasn’t awful. At least that was what Paige was going to tell make herself repeat in some sort of mantra.
It could have been worse.
She’d woken up to the smell of grease, far off, and she recognized it, her brain coming up with a name for it that the rest of her didn’t exactly recognize. It was home, but definitely not the compound. As she became more and more awake, she noticed exactly what was wrong with the situation.
All of it.
Opening her eyes, well, his eyes, she mentally corrected, she looked at the woman she did not know and groaned internally. Didn’t that just beat all?
“ Ta ma de.” She cleared her throat and awkwardly nudged the sleeping person, trying to be gentle, because there was really no good way to say ‘oh hey, do you know whose body I’m in?’ without sounding crazy.
