E'erythin' Mal n' River had learned 'bout Earth That Was Thanksgivin' came from both island residents who'd 'xperienced it back home n' from what they'd read courtesy o' that bookshelf.
It weren't like Mal was itchin' t' invite a plethora o' folk ont' Serenity on a daily basis 'r nothin', but it seemed like the thin' t' do now. With e'erythin' that'd happened t' him n' his crew lately, he thought it jus' might be a good idea t' 'member the good thin's they still had -- each other, friends, n' good company.
After each member o' Serenity's crew had got the word out t' those they considered near n' dear, Mal n' River set 'bout preparin' a mighty fine Thanksgivin' feast. Neither o' 'em were cooks but they tried their best. The table looked fine n' the food smelled better'n Mal had been 'xpectin' it to.
As e'eryone gathered 'round the table n' waited for the Shepherd t' say grace, Mal looked 'round at all the faces, glad t' spend this day with such fine folk.
