Some men just want to watch the world burn...

OMG. I SAW THE DARK KNIGHT ON TUESDAY. AND I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was such an unbelievably amazing movie - for a change living up to all the hype that has been surrounding it. And it serves as an entertaining superhero film, a 'thriller'/horror (?) film, and a very intelligently made film about madness and power and corruption - what is ' ( Read more... )

I agree with you about Harvey Dent. He was good up until he started becoming Two-Face at which point his character started losing credibility and my empathy? As opposed to Gary Oldman, whose character I really liked.

Yes, I do remember coming across a rant about a Batman/Joker fic where they settled soppily into suburban life.
...you what?

Sometimes it feels like the world of non-slashers on LJ is a very, very small one!

Absolutely. I lost any sort of connection and understanding with him,
That said, he had some very interesting lines about the 'fairness' of chance ... but I'll leave that for another time. ;)

I'm a bit lost, sorry. xD

Oh, absolutely. And, as I just ranted to baggy7, the world of people who believe in relationships other than romantic ones, and don't necessarily feel the need to ship everyone and everything. I'm probably being hypocritical about this (coming from an HHr shipper, haha) but to me, the bonds of blood and friendship are often so much stronger than any fleeting attraction, and so something like the friendship between Robin and Much, or (worse still!) the bonds between Pevensie children, Winchester and ( ... )

Oh oops, the '...you what?' was my reaction to the B/J fic.

And a big WORD to your third paragraph there. Not everything is about sex! Or needs to be made so. Grarrgh.

Well now, I went exploring. Here's a (small) linkspam to a few Bruce/Rachel fics found via gotham_times, a TDK newsletter.

Voicemail, G
Nothing But Heartbreak, G
Redemption, PG

Pretty much everything is Joker-centric, though...

That's weird! I went to see it yesterday, too! Well, I guess it isn't that weird. But yay!

It was awesome! I'll do a post on it as soon as my laptop is working again as I'm boring the hope computer which is slow and annoying.

Haha, I guess it's weird seeing as it's been 3 weeks already and people are still "pouring" in instead of waiting for the DVD release. :)

Ooh, I'll be happy to see that post - I'll keep an eye out because I'll be going on hiatus soon...
[Hee. All of our computers at home are laptops now - we finally ditched the big bulky one!]

Awesome review. It's made of pure win.

I hope Two-Face isn't dead. I have my doubts, too. Such a unique villain...pft they all are.

Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Heath Ledger were all brilliant!! :D

hahaha I have The Dark Knight!

Aw, thanks!!

When I discussed it with my brother, he pointed out Two-Face had fallen a terrible distance
I thought Two-Face was a fascinating villain, but I don't think they developed Harvey Dent's downfall fully enough, that's what ruined him for me. One conversation with the Joker and he's gone completely crazy?!
[Though I suppose having half of your face blasted away might do that to you. Providing you survived...]

Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine are amazing. Always have been. ;)

OMG, OMG, OMG. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*tackle!hugs*

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! :P

TDK was a phenomenal movie, and yes, Batman is kick ass. So much cooler than Superman. I have a lot of reverence for the X-Men just because that's what I grew up on (I have brothers on both sides of me age wise and, let's be real, the only good female superheroes are X-Men) so my favorite superhero is probably Rogue (early 90's cartoon Rogue; not Anna Paquin's emo-tastic desecration of Rogue) buuuut Batman is definitely my favorite superhero if we disqualify the X-Men.

You've reminded me that I still haven't seen the X-Men films so when you speak of Rogue I have no idea what you are on about, haha ... but ITA that Batman is kick-ass. ;)
I guess Tom diluted Superman's "legend" for me, but he's diluted it to such an extent he isn't the strong and decisive hero I know 'he' is supposed to be.

And what I've come to love about Batman is that he doesn't have this ridiculous slogan "truth, justice and the American way" and he isn't toying between the world and his gf ... he's so wonderfully human and real and inspiring. :P

you definitely need to see the X-Men movies.
haha, I totally love the gushing. I agree 100%. He is a very real superhero. I feel that way about almost all of the Marvel super heroes, actually (Spiderman, the X-Men, etc.)

Basically, Superman just annoys the shit out of me.
